Why does BHO's official biography state: "His mother, Ann Dunham, was born and raised in small-town Kansas. After her family moved to the Hawaiian Islands, she met Barack Obama Sr., a Kenyan scholarship student enrolled at the University of Hawaii. The two married in 1959, and on August 4, 1961 ...."
Wikipedia says that Stanley Ann graduated from highschool in Washington state in 1960, and moved to Hawaii and started college that fall, where she met BHO senior. "Dunham and Obama Sr. were married on the Hawaiian island of Maui on February 2, 1961, despite parental opposition from both families. Dunham was three months pregnant at the time of her marriage."
Any marriage between the Kenyan Obama and Stanley Ann, whatever kind it might have been, was obviously for convenience only.
What purpose/s did it serve then? Perhaps to help her gain custody of a child born to someone else?
Today the school is mixed. In the 1950s it wasn’t. At least as far as I can find out.
I think in the 80s. Not sure.

Kenya got Independence from Britain in December 1963. In 1961 it was still a British colony and a very rough place to be.
I’m not suggesting the FCO was racist, or anti-Kenyan. But the authorities in Kenya didn’t like those they thought were associated with the Mau Mau and they did think the Obama family were. BHO, Sr, was very sensible to stay in the USA until Kenyan Independence.
The way the people they suspected were treated was more than “unpleasant”. It was bloody horrible. The testimony at the Old Baily pretty much proves that.
And no, I’m not a racist.
I don’t like Barack Obama, Sr’s, behaviour but that certainly has nothing to do with his ethnicity.
