Why do people think they will survive the end of the world?

Its OK we got a killer comet passing some 80 times further away than the moon that’s magically gonna kill us this fall.

That’s ok. Harold Camping says the end of the world is a week from Sat, 5/21/11.

This simply will NOT do. I’ve already calculated and stocked the correct amount of toilet paper we’ll need to carry us through to the end of the world. I demand a re-calc.

"...take time today to realize that the season is right, the sky is red..."
The sky is not red. It's white, with feet and more feet of snow. We'll be snowed in here, in the middle of nowhere, for a day or two, but maybe it'll help the short-season potatoes here (Yukon Gold and Red Norland). ...forty pounds of seed potatoes with long eyes already! Ack! ...need to finish that experimental root cellar for this extreme climate this summer. I'll be busting rock all through the month of summer. ...summer, if you could call it that in never-summer land (many nights briefly below freezing and quite a few melting snows).

And not one would mind,
Neither bird nor tree,
If mankind perished utterly.
And Spring herself,
When she woke at dawn,
Would scarcely know that we
were gone.

Well, you know the old adage: If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
