It's great that, no sooner than one single day has passed, already our so-called president's "bump" has evaporated (since who would that bump be from anyway - Republicans...) and already everyone has refocused on the real threat to the GOP establishment.

Hussein was never going to get some permanent poll bounce from killing Bin Laden. He simply carried on the same investigations and operations that the Bush administration had been conducting. While feeding Bin Laden to the crabs is great news, it won’t effect the 2012 elections. Obama is a terrible President who has done a lousy job with the economy, and people vote on the economy far more than anything else. If gas is $4.00 come election day, Obama will almost certainly lose. If unemployment is still over 8%, Obama is likely finished.
Also, Trump is still a complete clown and NOT a conservative. He will go exactly nowhere in the GOP primaries - especially once voters see his record of liberal policy positions and giving hundreds of thousands of dollars to Democrats, support for Hillary Clinton, claiming Bush was “evil”, etc, etc. Trump is a goofy sideshow and a complete political non-factor.
Obama has mis-handled this to such a great extent (the entire “me me me” aspect) he’s leaving himself wide open to Donald Trump’s next well-timed skewering.
Obama will come unglued for having the focus taken off his big “me me me” moment.
Probably so bothered, he’ll play more golf.

I agree Obama manages to make everything about himself, well, unless it's something bad and then he is back to blaming Bush. Still, he's a politician and this is par for the course for many of his ilk.
People were not judging Obama on whether or not the US has or hasn't killed Bin Laden, and his death simply doesn't have any impact on most people's lives other than a few feel good moments that we finally got a bad guy. Hussein is not going to get any lasting bump from this, because the voters are focused on the economy and the economy stinks and Obama's handling of it has been awful.
I think you and some others think Trump is far more significant politically than he actually is. These are serious times we live in and Trump is not a serious candidate - as such he will fade away as the media gets tired of his antics and the public loses interest. Oh sure, Trump will flail about saying goofy things to get more attention. He will probably throw out some more F-Bombs, perhaps call the Chinese mother****ers in public again, threaten to seize oil fields from our allies, etc, but none of this is the talk of a serious person and it won't take long for the public to see through his clownish nonsense. I think Trump's time in the political spotlight is already slipping away.

The real question is, “How much did most people care about bin Laden anyways?”
After all these years, it’s plenty clear that bin Laden wasn’t needed for al qaeda to function and exist. The underwear bomber came from Yemen, for instance. In addition, any nut we can find can pretty much act as an al qaeda on a whim. bin Laden would have been great had we caught him then, but after all this time, it’s pretty clear he’s not some great arch-villain in the way Hitler or Mussolini was, he’s a useful idiot or figurehead for the cause.
The one argument Obama will make is that he could catch bin Laden with zero torture information. Forget that when so many of us have to face the “torture” called unemployment.
