"We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail!" President Bush
The big news of the day is the death and burial at sea of Osama bin Laden. Thank you, President Bush and the US military (including my son and future son-in-law) who made this day happen. Other news is the nuptials of William and Catherine in Great Britain. May God bless their union and draw them close to Him in Jesus Christ. Alabama (my state) and other southeast states continue the task of digging out and rebuilding. A massive effort is underway with able bodies and supplies needed.
Goog morning everyone. We had such a scare with a wildfire over the weekend. Burned to within 1/4 mile of our fence. Scary stuff, and things are so dry could happen again any day, however today is beautiful, sun is shinning, roses are fertilized and blooming, branding is complete, and most of all God Is Good!!! am going to little grandkids track meet. Denco
Amen to that! God is good and He is good all the time. What a statement to rely upon. We are not at the mercies of an arbitrary dice-thrower. We can know that the exigencies of life are divinely placed to draw us ultimately closer to Him. That knowledge can make us stedfast in our faith and joyful in our outlook.
I’ve been enjoying my roses. I’m seeing many more blooms than ever before. BUT, the battle is on! Black spot fungus is looming and fighting back. Victory in the garden (as opposed to Victory Gardens) is not assured. More later.
What a relief it must be to have branding completed for this year.
Jem, I have 7 or 8 rose bushes. The rose trees have the black spot. What do you do for it besides ripping all of the leaves off them?
I douse them with fungicide I buy at Lowe’s. You could make a wash of water and baking soda and pour that over the plants. Fungus, iirc, grows in an acidic environment so washing the plant with something base ought to help. That’s theory I’ve read about online.
Yes this is the last voyage of Endeavor. There is one shuttle left. I forget which one. Thank God that there are still people in the industry still pushing hard to get our access to space back ASAP, and gains are being made even though caligula desperately wants to destroy America and America’s manned space program.
Good luck with the new venture John. Oh my, I’d forgotten about Miss Piggy! Or should I now refer to her as The Late Miss Piggy?
We’ve been packing, loading, cleaning to get ready to head north, that’s why I haven’t been around much. It wears me out but we’re about ready.
Atlantis
Toby, here are some gulf shrimp and southern grits to tempt you.
Thursday ping!
YOUR TEMPTATION HIT HOME!! Sure an glad things are getting stright, Allie told me some have contated up on face book.
Now for me..I am doing kinda fine, got an infection in my left eye and it is driving me crazy, can’t rub it, can’t
itch it. just suffer with it.
THe kids get out of school for the summer today. got to stock up with some goodies in the fridge which they now have full range over it so they just love ole pawpaw.
My kids are doing just great, I am so blessed. I might have my ‘shack in the back’ but it is just an extension of the big house.
Glad to get back on and chat, I can’t tell you all how much I have missed you, at 745 here are just some things I can not do on a computer, glad to know just where the on and off buttons are.
Now, for my last cup of coffee for the day.
Toby
I stay away for a spell and see new folks on here, welcome from the Mississippi Gulf Coast, USA.
Toby
I have several rose bushes but my favorit flowers are special iris plants I am growing.
Still lots of news on the flood waters down here, the old mighty Mississippi river. I grew up in Greenville, Ms and the old man river can be harsh and deadly, the levees are holding. I have pictures of my daddy in the nationl guard uniform standing on the levee in the 1927 flood.
I say once more, so glad to be back.
Toby
Happy to report that I have that old age sickness only.
Toby
Hi Gulfcoast, Glad to meet you. We are ranchers here in the extremely dry eastern New Mexico. My husband and I are suspose to be retired (our son & family live at ranch) however we go out nearly every day and attend to something. the work never ends ha ha. Our son just leased land next to ours so right now running 600 black angus cows. just finished our branding so now son helping all the neighbors who helped us. We really need some rain but we are one day closer to that blessing. Have a good day. Denco
Glad to talk to a real cow rancher, we live here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and love it.
Toby
I think my favorite flower is a daisy. It has been for a long time and still is. I carried yellow roses and daisies in my bridal bouquet.
Oh sweetie, it is good to see our posts.. I thought Allie would get our messages to you & that if you had a workable computer you would eventually stop by.
I dont get here often myself. Since mom’s death there have been some changes, but a lot is the same
I know you will love time with the boys with vacation starting.. Allie I am sure has her own life & even though she loves her parents/family, there comes a time when most of the days & hours are spent with friends, work, activities.
hugs to you
so many people say they have more work after “retirment” than before.. sounds like you.
Not sure you know .. but I am ghost on the Porch.
All -
still overcast & dreary. Last good day was last Thursday morning when I worked in yard for 4 hours. Downhill of rain, cold, afterward
Watching the NBA semifinals... 4 good teams and of course watching with STRONG interest LeBron. I still like the bugger but am still POd & DO NOT WANT HIM TO GET A RING THIS YEAR. So go Bulls!
Severance Hall tomorrow.. I get there a couple times a year & always enjoy it.. our theater district closer to town is always buzzing but you need $$ to join the buzz it seems?
Health is okay.. still have bad allergies & back but at my age, there are so many with so many worse problems.
have a nice day everyone!
Jemian - I like daisies also.. have a lot of wild ones growing on property. It is about time for them to bloom.. my dad liked them also & they were interspersed in the lawn & for that blooming time, the lawn was not mowed
Hi Toby, glad you found us again. Great to hear from you.
