Trump should announce he will waive the income taxes for people living in states that vote for him.

This would be a ploy to draw the outrage of the media & get a few headlines, all on the way to pointing out that the ObamCare Waivers are a quid-pro-quo for supporters that should be illegal. Yeah, it would be a stunt.

Article 1, Section 8.
The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes, duties, imposts and excises, to pay the debts and provide for the common defense and general welfare of the United States; but all duties, imposts and excises shall be uniform throughout the United States....

Not within the President's authority.

How about an income/gas tax holiday for everyone for at least 1 year? Would never happen, but such a move would force a cut in government spending right away.

It would certainly bring awareness to many who have no idea about the ZeroCare waivers!!

While you are searching, see if you can find where the authority comes from to hire Commie Czars and who answer to no one but the president.

There isn’t any authority for those or most of what Zero does, but responding to wrong with another wrong doesn’t make us any better than them.

No. That's not the answer. The answer is there is NO AUTHORITY for anyone.

but responding to wrong with another wrong doesn’t make us any better than them.

I asked a question. I didn't say anything about responding, doing/not doing anything wrong. Where are you getting that from? BTW, it's 1000 times more wrong to do NOTHING!

You gotta be kidding? I suppose we shouldn’t fight back against the terrorists because that makes us no better than THEM either?

Lighten up. This would be a brilliant ploy - demonstrating absurdity by being absurd.

But then, neither is the so-called “Executive Order”.

But then, neither is the so-called “Executive Order”.

Nothing by that name appears in the Constitution, but the President clearly has the authority to run the Executive branch of government; in essence any directive he gives is an executive order.

The misuse of executive orders as de facto legislation is a violation of the separation of powers, of course, and partisan politics aside, Congress really ought to a better job defensing against those or they will find their power completely usurped by the Executive branch.

Oh, I agree that as head of the Executive Branch, he has the authority to issues directives that affect the employees of that branch of government, but not the rest of us.

My only conclusion regarding Congressional malfeasance in this area is that it is (a) their way of saying “not MY fault”, and (b) every EO ratchets more power into the White House, which each party then seeks to control, like some giant board game.

I think you & others missed the point. It would be a way to highlight the billion dollar waivers Obama grants to his supporters. And, it would be a fun frollic for Trump through the headlines.

I do wish I could find a place that analyzes, for the layman, why Congress cannot stop ObamaCare Waivers.
