Why what?
If you don’t see what I said, read the rest of my posts on the thread, including those that spoke about Reagan.
If you look at the post you can see that it is in response to post number 96. In post 96 you said the following:
“What I said was that in a 3-way between Zero, Trump as an Independent, and some Real-man Romney type pubbie BS, then Zero would win, Trump would easily come in second, and all the party-line pubbies would end up being the spoilers”
Why is it that we find fault in Trump in this scenario, why not find fault in the spoilers. It seems the question is being asked in reverse of how it should be asked. Instead of blaming Trump because he is more interesting than all the Republican candidates, lets blame the Republican candidates that he is more interesting than the Republican candidates. Then the question becomes what to do about it? The answer should be the Republican spoilers should get out of the way.
This debate highlights a problem with the conservative mindset, namely the heuristic-driven bias of frame dependence, and more specifically a type of anchoring and adjustment where we know what the problem is but we fail to correct the problem. And not only do we fail to correct, but the corrections that we do make fail to be sufficient corrections. Its like we know we have a problem but we are unwilling to be radical enough about the solution and so our moderate response simply produces the same problem again.
Do you see how this election cycle is shaping up to be another version of John McCain versus Obama? As in the past, a media driven mainly by liberal orthodoxy, and I include both conservative and liberal media in a media driven by liberal orthodoxy, will “pick” the candidate. Allow preconceptions of what’s “acceptable” plays into the same dialectical progression as in the past. Even with all the watershed moments over the last two years we are still headed to the exact same place. Its very very sad really that conservatives can’t grab their balls and put forth an acceptable candidate, Trump or no Trump.
