Sorry. Gotta say it. Sure is a lot of whining around here about Trump.

OK someone has to say it.

QUIT WHINING.

There. Thanks. Now please if you will allow me to point out a small fact:

Today. One Sean Hannity. SARAH PALIN, complimented Donald Trump quite clearly for being bold and honest.

obama is chametz in the mind. Very hard to get rid of and you darn sure can’t sell it. Very unkosher. I tried banging my head against the wall but all I got for that was a headache.
And thank you. Same to you...and if you aren’t Jewish, Happy Easter.

Why not stick to Reagan’s 11th and write positives about YOUR preferred candidate.

I did just that at post #54. I also frequently defend her on the Palin threads.

Do you think you candidate is enhanced by ripping other possible candidates?

Nope. I'm not one of those. I can't stand people who hunt down every thread they can find where people are expressing support for someone other than their chosen candidate, just so they can rip on that candidate.

For my part, I peruse the threads which support candidates other than the one I support, and if that person has just done something newsworthy that I agree with, I'll say it.

I'll sometimes express my lack of confidence in a potential candidate for one reason or another, but honestly, I don't have a hate on for any of them, except for Mitt, and maybe Huck. The rest just don't make the cut with me. Nothing personal. I just think they've all been out-classed by Palin by 1,000%.

Personally, I'm still looking. So many potential candidates testing the waters, and they all have some good points. THE MAIN POINT IS once we have a candidate nominated at the convention, he must have full support! No point in going all pouty and splitting our vote with a third candidate. That would guarantee four more years of the OBAMAnation.

There is already name recognition and support for Trump. He is committing himself to a set of conservative policies which he can’t really renege on wholesale once he comes to power without losing all of his credibility.

Oh geeez... I'm sure he'd be devastated by public opinion if he EVER went back on a position he took during a political campaign. Come On...

Trump has flipped and flopped all over the political landscape in his time as a famous person. He's been all over the map, and it's well documented. That is his record, such as it is, and it is a deal-breaker for any true conservative.

I'm afraid that I'm not buying his 11th hour conversion to conservatism. That transformation should have happened 30 years ago, if it were to count as honest and believable. The man is in his sixties. He should have figured out which side he was on long ago, but he didn't. He's got no track record of conservatism. He's spent the last 30 years all over the map, politically.

He should not be our nominee because of this. Period. End of story.

I think RINOs will never stop whining, so just wait and see.

Sure, the RINOs are whining, but the conservatives have already figured this guy out. We've done that because we use logic, reason, and facts to think with. Unlike the RINOs who are only protecting their turf and the ruling class status quo.

Again -- Trump is doing a great service for this country by exposing Obama in the mainstream press. We conservatives THANK him for that.

We're just too smart to even think about making him our nominee.

Amen! All Trump is doing now is hurting Obama and that’s good. Heck he’s not even a candidate but if he becomes one, all the whiners will have their opportunity to not vote for him then.

As a famous person, Trump has been busy making money— lots of money. I think it has been observed elsewhere that he has up to now not been a professional politician.

If he is not actually elected yet, I am not so certain that his flipflops are that relevant to current events. A management dictum is that one makes the best call one can based on possibly imperfect and/or incomplete information.

Right now, I would say Trump is outpacing the Republican pack on the issue of Obama’s constitutional qualifications to be president. That strikes at the center of Obama as President and it also supports the Constitution. It is a double whammy for conservatism.

You have to take a candidate as a package. A guy who has never made a mistake probably has no money and no bullhorn. And no chance.

You lead, follow, or get out of the way.

Right now Trump is leading. Palin is a distant second. Some others are possible but one rarely hears of them at the national media level, at least not yet.

If your problem is with Trump leading, you should not be whining, you should be finding and funding a better leader than Trump. Who is that? I am not certain I see anyone on the horizon at this time. Most noteworthy is the Republican tendency towards the circular firing squad.

If Trump wanted power he could have played it safe dozens of ways instead of rattling Obama’s cage the way he has done in the last couple of weeks. In that time Arizona has come within a hair of passing a presidential candidacy qualification bill, and many birther fires that the MSM had thought they put out are now astir with glowing embers again. A liberal would not do that... it is too dangerous to what power they now have through Obama as president.

I posted this thought on another thread, but I wonder if Trump and Palin (maybe through Rush?) have been in communication, and Trump is running a “stalking-horse” campaign against Obama, to help clear the playing field for Palin when she finally announces (and does anybody really doubt now that she’s going to announce for the Presidency?)

That kind of thing would be so delightfully Machiavellian for our side that . . . well . . . it would be a refreshing change, wouldn’t it?

You mean, as if they were working together? With some sort of strategy to defeat Obama, using cooperation and teamwork?? What a crazy idea :-)

You sound like Trump’s publicist. That was very good, but you failed to note the elephant in the room, which is that Donald Trump is NOT a conservative, and is BARELY a Republican.

Yes, he’s saying the sort of things we all want to hear. That’s called playing to the crowd. Any half wit can do it.

How are you to know whether Trump or any other politician is being straight with you? Well, you check their record. Where have they stood on issues in the past? How have they voted? How have they conducted themselves throughout their lives?

In short, you check their history and their resume, just as you would any job applicant.

Trump may not have been an elected politician before, but he’s still got a track record and history we can check. When we inspect it, we find that over the last 30 years, he’s held liberal political positions and he’s supported liberal politicians. In that same time, he has called himself a Republican, then a Democrat, then a Reform Party member.

He’s been all over the map, politically, which might be fine for a businessman, but I’m afraid it’s disastrous for a politician.

With a track record like Trump’s I wouldn’t vote for him if I were a Democrat, and he was running on the Democrat ticket.

Here's what Jim Robinson has to say about Trump:

"Trump has had a lot of bad hair days. Just like Romney. Two bad hair guys who are more liberal than they are conservative and both run-of-the-mill liars and political whores. Either will say anything to get ahead. Just working the system the only way they know how. Charlatans."

If Mitt Romney is persona non grata around here why isn't Donald Trump? He's no more conservative than Romney is.

And just for the record I'm 100% behind Michele Bachmann and Herman Cain. And I'd love to see Paul Ryan jump in (even though he keeps saying no).

Seriously. How about for the next week - until this weekend at least, anyone posting a Trump-bashing thread, has to concurrently support someone on the GOP side. At least then, we can (pretend) it's not whining.

No, I don't think I have to commit to anyone else in order to point out that while I appreciate The Donald taking it to Obama, I think he's abhorrent as potential standard-bearer for the GOP.

But if Trump can damage Obama and crowd Romney out of the race, I'll focus on nice things to say about him.

I almost posted this this morning myself, but someone beat me to it. I says a lot about the coming atmosphere among the actual contenders. Trump is giving them a successful Blueprint for them to follow. Only those who follow his lead will go anywhere in the coming election.
