In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
vestige \VESS-tij\ noun
a mark or visible sign left by something that existed before; also: a minute remaining amount
Example sentence:
Viaducts, walls, and ancient baths remain as vestiges of the Roman occupation of Britain.
Extra example: "Outside her home flies a large American flag, but inside there are vestiges of her native France, with paintings all round of the City of Lights and its grand boulevards and striking architecture." -- From an article in the Gloucester Daily Times (Massachusetts), March 3, 2011
Did you know?
"Vestige" is derived via Middle French from the Latin noun "vestigium," meaning "footstep, footprint, or track." Like "trace" and "track," "vestige" can refer to a perceptible sign made by something that has now passed. Of the three words, "vestige" is the most likely to apply to a tangible reminder, such as a fragment or remnant of what is past and gone. "Trace," on the other hand, may suggest any line, mark, or discernible effect ("the snowfield is pockmarked with the traces of caribou"). "Track" implies a continuous line that can be followed ("the fossilized tracks of dinosaurs").
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

What is the deal, Barry isn’t using his black voice today.
“...my finely honed political instincts...” yeah with all of his experience in politics he has finely honed instincts
Urkle has a black voice?
Tito Puente’s gonna be dead, and you’re gonna say, “Oh, I’ve been listening to him for years, and I think he’s fabulous.”
And fingernails.
He gave his speech already......he’s on the move for your tax $ as I type.
OK.......how scared should I be when a neurosurgeon insists the only option is surgery. Diagnosis is a herniated disc....causing nerve problems.....scary thing is he said it can cause permanent damage. I have had some odd moments when I seem to lose my balance on that side. I am nervous, disappointed and stunned, intermittently since hearing the news. I did get a ‘script for physical therapy and an order for a test to tell me if I have any nerve damage in that leg yet. Hmm.
Geepers, SD. You need to turn this thing around......you can only laze around so many days before you go stir crazy. Get better!
Well, sort of - he attempts to sound black in front of certain audiences
He doesn’t sound as convincingly black as Preacher Gore, though. ;-)
And a PhD in education is questionable at best. I can say that, I took graduate courses in education when in grad school. Education degrees are a joke.
I hope all works out for you. I’ve got idiots theorizing on math to keep me occupied today. Present company excluded. ;-)
If we ever want to get serious about education in this country, we should bulldoze every education college and start over.
SAT scores for those studying education are among the lowest.
are we gonna have to get you that t-shirt as a get well gift?
Maybe. Someone commented that this may be the catalyst for that civil war we’re all itching for. LOL
Everyone but Neo commented on my FB page that the answer was 2....must be a NY educational gaffe OR we are right. LOL

Winnie Cooper agrees with me.
@crossurfingers A computer would say the answer is 288, which is technically the best answer, since order of op says do multi & div L to R.
Did you miss the apparitions thread yesterday? the civil war will be between the protestants and the Catholics.....and it will be to the death. talk about a blood-lust....even I got sucked into it AND reprimanded.
I missed it. I put in several years battling Protestants and look in only once and again. Besides, math idiots are more unique. One guy was saying the answer could be 8.66667!
Like functional families, correct answers are correct in the same way, but incorrect answers can come from anywhere!
