Well, if his history is any indication, he buys gold out of the country and tries to move to a new location and smuggle in the gold.

That is a much more likely energy source than the one posted.

Know why he is in Florida, wants to defraud some of those rich seniors.

the nuclear reactions must be allowed to become very energetic

Riddle me this. How does anyone 'allow' the nuclear reactions to become very energetic?

Basically we are dealing with Nickle, Hydrogen and a catalyst. Remember we are dealing with a nuclear reaction, not a chemical reaction (that uses catalysts) so how is the nuclear reaction allowed to become very energetic? By increasing the Temperature from 500C? That will do absolutely nothing to increase the reaction (it needs to get hot like the sun). More pressure? Ditto. Adding a catalyst to a nuclear reaction? I don't think so!

Nothing in the description makes any kind of sense in a nuclear sense. Remember that the nuclear forces are thousands of times stronger than electrical forces. Controlling these forces at this scale is far beyond our current technology.

Normally, the reaction gets more energetic by the removal of a control substance that is absorbing neutrons. The more neutrons, the greater the cascading reactions that continue to build.

IMO, the whole thing is bs

Thank you for the very educational reply, G. It was good reading, and I agree, the inventor will have to provide some extraordinary evidence to back his claim.

Appreciate the well-informed reply, LG. That’s the sort of response that makes these kinds of threads informative and interesting to us laymen.

Ditto to Gandalf the Gray’s response.

The closest thing to prison for Rossi I could find was this quote:

““Pay close attention to Andrea Rossi; he has a dirty past. Twenty years ago he was arrested for illegal importing of gold from the Swiss.”

Doesn’t say he went to prison; and I’m not sure how bad a crime it is to “illegally import” gold.

There was suggestions of a scam involving waste disposal, but no arrest record I could find.

My pleasure. Generally all such have been fly-by-night, lots of churning PR, then total brick wall, and no prosecutions because no laws were broken.

Bologna is a large city in Italy...it has a lunch meat named after it - much like Hamburg, Frankfurt, Braunschweig, and Vienna have a lunch meat named after them...

Absolutely correct, but that is with fissionable materials. We are talking about fusion here : ) Which I am positive you know.

The fusion process is radioactive. Point a geiger counter at the sun! It is a big fusion reactor.

The idea that someone has figured out how to do cold fusion, without releasing radiation, is asinine.

I checked out Pons and Fleishmans lab back in the day and put a voltage meter across their electrodes. They were lying about the voltages and kicked me out when they saw what I was doing.

These con artists are simply heating the units up with electricity, nothing more or less.

Rossi talked about this on Coast to Coast AM:

“I said to myself I had to arrive not with a theory or with a toy on a table. I have to arrive with a product. In fact we will begin to earn money in October after the successful start up of the plant of one megawatt. Until that moment all the moment on the table has been and will be my money. The only money that has been risked is my money. This way I have cut all the voices about this guy is trying to make some trick, etc, etc. Any attempts to diminish the importance of the technology has been foiled. Because it is clear if somebody puts all his money in a thing if this is a trick he is just tricking himself. The rules are very clear here. Money will change hands only if the plant will work. No good work no money for anybody and a loss of money for me.”

It is there somewhere, maybe it was jail.

He was in there for 3 year sentence and got out after 1.

Yes, understood

They won’t let anyone with radiation measurement equipment within a mile of that thing.

That is the number one reason I think this is bull.

That is what a con artist calls “The Come on”

This weeds out all the little suckers and the people not totally taken in with the con. The mark approaches the con and begs to be let in on the ground floor.

This is conning 101.

My fav is about the Xanthi, Greece factory, the web site was registered in secret and Rossi is the owner.

There isn’t any physical location tied to it either.

Maybe you don’t know, but the whole idea behind cold fusion is that heat or pressure is not required.

The idea is that materials like palladium trap and hold the hydrogen atoms closer than what their electrical charge would normally allow. Then when the material gets electrically excited, whammo, the protons spontaneously join together, creating radiation, which translates to heat, just like in a normal nuclear reactor.

Theoretically cold fusion is possible, but let me explain the problem. Take two really strong magnets and try to push the same poles together so that they touch. Tough but doable that is the EM force. Now envision putting two magnets a billion times smaller and a billion times more powerful together. With electrical forces it is a bit like trying to stop a shotgun blast by putting a kleenex over the end of the barrel. Maybe if the kleenex was made out of spectra? LOL

That is a little different than the explanation that I got.

Maybe a different cold fusion experiment that was being explained.

But they overcame the repulsion by having a clasping bubble that is so violent that heat and light are released. You could visibly see it.

A physicist calculated though, that too much of the energy is being wasted in the form of light and heat for fusion to have occurred. There are still arguments though whether more energy was produced than consumed, didn’t matter though because the energy output was too unfocused to be usable.
