Let’s add to the discussion that country music is big now. It’s become more mainstream. Carrie has been a HUGE success in country music and she also knew he she was. Going into different genres to sing didn’t really help her that much. She was still great but seemed awkward when she had to.
19 has made LOADS of cash on country music with Carrie Underwood. The producers know country sells and have no reason these days to encourage Scotty to do anything else.

I’m not convinced Iglesias is the greatest singer either. He’s cute though!
It is not bad that Haley is sexy. But we are not talking looks in a vacuum here. Haley fakes her song lyrics’ emotions. She pushes too hard, literally and figuratively. She is not genuine and it is not pleasing to watch her in this competition.
The only times I like Haley are the first few seconds of her songs, when she has not pushed her voice to top intensity yet. I think her best performance was a duet with Paul in Hollywood or Vegas week. I am trying to find it on YouTube but haven’t. They both had such unusual 70’s folk rock sounds that were fantastic. Randy nailed it: all she does is scream.
It is very poor sports of you on this thread of friends for years, to diss those who disagree with you by means of personal insults. Believe me, I am not jealous of the Idol singers. I never tried to make it as a singer and I would NOT enjoy fame. We enjoy this little fun part of our week in camaraderie and mutual respect, except for you, who always turns nasty. Please try, instead of insulting the women on this thread, to edit your posts to explaining why you love your favorites instead of trashing the people here who do not love your favorites.
Pia was a statue with no charisma or personality, with pageanty performances, and the best voice in then top 13. But her perfect voice didn’t make up for her phoniness either.
I enjoyed Naima’s voice. Sometimes she flapped around a bit much and her clothing was unusual. But I voted for her most weeks. She was talented.
