I am so sorry. I had to have a cat put down for the same conditions, this one a Russian Blue. He was gorgeous, gentle and so easy to love. My companion. I still miss him. Had a maine coon, which died last summer. God in his infinite wisdom gave us our pets to be a part of our families, and it makes it so hard when they leave. You will be in my prayers tonight.
I hated that song that Casey did this past week. These were better, imho.

I think they need to have Scotty watch his performances and take note of movements and facial expressions and such. He might not be aware of what he’s doing.
LOL, yeah I can see how that would be written just like that. I was wondering if it was some kind of scientology garbage, like the last Indian Jones turned out to be. Just looked so stupid.
We have two orange tabbies and one British Blue. The British Blue is the one that is allergic to poultry. She used to get sick every time she ate. We took her in because her previous owners got tired of dealing with it. We used to have to take her in for steroid shots every 6 weeks and even then it only helped a little.
Now that we know what the problem is, it is a lot better. Not perfect, but a LOT better.
You are so right though that it is so hard when they pass.
The last guy James has a great story as well. I work with special needs kids and he is an inspiration. He deals with teretz syndrome as well as having aspergers/autism. When he sings you don’t see the twitching as much, but when he talks it comes back especially in his eyes. The singing just relaxes him I guess so that he overcomes it. I really have gotten to like him more and more each week.
Wow, now that is awesome. I know you are proud!
Holy moly, but that bearded dude, who was all fussy about what an "artist" he is, gave one of THE worst performances in AI history, in my opinion. He totally misunderstood that Nat King Cole classic and tortured the song into submission. Wow, what a mess. That was an instance when the show really, really, REALLY needed someone as acerbic as Simon to tell that guy the truth.
After a few seconds I was sure that Casey would be going home. He did totally mess up that song. And then he grimaced through it and even cleared his throat in an ugly way TWICE during.
Thanks. I hope he makes it, and that Miss Big Fat Furry Paws doesn’t fish out there as much! The cats can fish all they like as long as they only get the mosquitofish, which replenish themselves ever couple of months! Stay away from the big colorful fish, kitties!
Oh yeah! I think I have the date where he has to go to Texas wrong, I think he presents the results in 2012.
Anyway, I was talking to one of the other students at the event and she was telling me about something I found interesting. She is married and her husband had a child from a previous marriage. I don’t recall if it was the ex wife or the ex wife’s mother but, one of them taught the child to use sign language before he could talk.
This may have delayed his speech a little but no lasting problem. I just thought it was interesting to use sign language at a time when children aren’t old enough to talk yet.
I think James (the metal guy) is having the time of his life and AI’s been really good to him along the way. James is a wrestling fan and they brought Hulk Hogan in a couple weeks ago. Love his reaction:

A month or so ago I went to a lecture by photographer Art Wolfe. He lives in Seattle and was showing pictures of his property, because he gets a lot of wildlife visiting. He has an area where he made a pond that feeds into a little stream going down a hill. Anyway, he said he had expensive large koi in the pond. One day he looked out and saw a river otter carrying one off! They eventually ate all of his koi. He said he put large cheap goldfish in there and the otters won’t touch them, but they do come back all the time looking for koi. I would have such a hard time being made. Otters are sooooo adorable!

Typically, after leaving “Idol,” the contestants say they have no regrets about the songs they picked on the show, but, again, McDonald was different than most finalists. “Some of the song choices that I did weren’t probably the best ones for me,” he said, without elaborating on which ones he was uncomfortable with or who suggested he sing them. And though he didn’t even expect to get as far as he did in the competition, McDonald lamented listening to the advice of others when his first inclination was to stick to his guns. “I wish I had done some more of these obscure artists, more of the vibe of music that I’m into ... because it came across onstage. ... I didn’t feel comfortable a whole lot of the time up there because I felt like it wasn’t me all the time.”
“My main goal is just to make music that lasts and people enjoy,” he said, mentioning acts such as Mumford & Sons, the Black Keys and Ray LaMontagne as contemporary bands he’s into.
It really does work! One year I had a sweet little boy in my class with Down’s syndrome. His mom and dad taught him sign language early because they knew he would have difficulties with oral speech. She read to him hours each day as well. One of the most well behaved child with special needs that I have worked with. It’s hard for the parents to discipline their children with special needs because they tend to feel sorry for them and falsely believe they can’t do more. It’s just a different type of learning.
I enjoy the artists he mentions and thought all along he would do better with obscure because his voice is unique. I also thought he could have done one or two of The Avett Brothers songs. Don’t know how those would fit into the theme nights tho.
We do have raccoons coming into our yard. They love it when one of us puts a trash bag out beside the back door rather than walk it out to the alley where the bins are. But they also play in the pond and sometimes rip up a plant in there. They don’t seem to catch the big fish. Maybe they don’t taste good. Never knew that before!
Same here. He has the great combination of talent plus personality plus showmanship. He fills that stage and reaches out to the audience. But what has really impressed me and put me in his corner: the way he is there to comfort whoever just got voted off or ignored, like Stefano when Pia was voted out. I also like the way he stood up to pseudo-impresario Jimmy and even smacked him down a bit. I guess James has learned a bit from being a WWE fan. LOL!!
James is solid. I see he and Lauren in the final and I have a tough choice to make.
Not a fan of Casey's although I appreciate that he sings jazz and is a talented musician. I just don't like the way he approaches songs. His style comes off too angry. Too mean. Nothing about jazz is mean, but he makes it seem that way. Jazz can be deliberately discordant sometimes, but never mean.
Jacob is interesting in that he does have talent, but again, he's a garden variety gospel singer who doesn't seem to have a style separate from his gospel roots. That's fine if it's where he wants to take his career, but it doesn't work for pop or modern R&B. The other thing about Jacob is that his effeminate qualities overshadow his performances, at least for me.
To me, James is the best of this bunch by far. Not only is he vocally talented, but he doesn't forget Rule #1 when it comes to performing before an audience. ENTERTAIN THE PEOPLE!
All the fussy blah, blah, blah about "art" notwithstanding, if a performer doesn't entertain the people, they will not pay good money for concerts, records, etc. James makes watching him perform fun, joyful, engaging. That's really what it's all about.
Hahahaha, that’s really funny. I love James’ reaction also. Very cool. Thanks for the link. :)
Absolutely. How bad could it be when he merely failed to buy a train (just local transport) ticket?
I do agree with you re handicap parking spots also. That's a pet peeve of mine. I was somewhere yesterday where the sign says it's a $250 FINE. Good.
I wondered about his rapid eye blinks. That kid is super talented and his condition won’t hold him back at all. If he wins, I think he’s on his way to a terrific career.
