I prefer, “don’t own a cat because they are useless animals.”

And now there’s the theory about the H. Gondii toxoplasmosis parasite carried by cats that causes schizophrenia in humans.

I’d be damned before I’d have a cat and an infant living in the same house. Give the cat to someone who would love and appreciate it. (obviously not you, TSgt). But do not keep a cat with an infant.

My Grandpa would have said get a Remington 870 to take care of the cat. (He disliked cats immensely)? I've never owned a cat but I don't dislike them. But if I found one on my Daughter's crib it would have been an ex-cat. Its just creepy... especially when you consider the old wives tale about cats stealing the baby's breath.

Both cats and dogs are good for people.

Take the time to go to this slide show (27 beautiful slides) and read the comments on the side to understand why having pets including cats can be very good for you. I might suggest for you that having a loving pet helps to keep the heart from growing so hard also.------

Excerpt form slide 5:

Cats and Dogs Good for the Heart Research has shown the long-term benefits of owning a cat include protection for your heart. Over the 20 years of one study, people who never owned a cat were 40% more likely to die of a heart attack than those who had....

Also from other studies:

However, a growing number of studies have suggested that kids growing up in a home with "furred animals" -- whether it's a pet cat or dog, or on a farm and exposed to large animals -- will have less risk of allergies and asthma, he tells WebMD.
