It'll go like gangbusters.
He should hire Michelle Malkin and/or Laura Ingram to host Bill OReillys show.
My understanding, he already has a pretty big staff and Internet news properties that he can easily roll out into a news channel.
Bad for Fox News and conservatives though, because he would decrease the value of Fox News Conservative Audience and therefore shift them farther to the left.
Fox is driving off the conservatives with BOR,Smith and Whorealdo the Open Border,White hating POS.
His internet and radio “empire” is already gaining considerable clout. His most recent big name hire was SE Cupp.
Joel Cheatwood, the Senior Vice President of Production and Development at Fox News, is the man who brought Glenn Beck and Nancy Grace to CNN Headline News. He is also rumored to be leaving along with Beck from Fox News. When Cheatwood left CNN HN and went back to Fox News, he brought Glenn Beck with him. He has a known high success in the TV News industry. If anyone will succeed, Glenn Beck and Joel Cheatwood will.
It is very difficult and incredibly capital intensive. You need either very deep pockets, like Oprah, or a very attractive demographic for advertisers, again like Oprah. Beck has neither. In fact, to a bunch of advertisers, he's persona non grata.
He could go the pay-wall model, a la Howard Stern's Sirius deal. But, Stern, a guy who had enormous celestial ratings, proved unequivocally that over-the-air or basic cable ratings just don't translate to satellite or pay wall numbers .
He really needs a stable of brilliant and yet amazingly affordable writers like me.
FReepmail me, Glenn. Let’s do lunch.
Bad idea; the cable companies won’t carry it.
Many of them only started carrying Fox News several years ago, and then because of public pressure.
So as good as it sounds, you’ll have to have a dish in order to get it. I’d never see him again.
The new Glen Beck network
First, it wouldn’t be GBN; he’d never name it after himself. Maybe The Freedom Network or Network America or some such.
I think he’d have a chance. The poster who points to Oprah as an example of why he’d fail misses the point completely. Oprah is starting to realize that you can’t have an entire network built around a cult of personality. Beck is smart enough to know that, and he’s not nearly so ego driven. He also seems to attract some very, very intelligent, educated, and insightful people.
The man IS smart and has the ‘vision thing’. That sells.
No cable or satellite system will carry it.
Remember the Right Network??
The question I have is - how much of his credibility comes from being on Fox? If he leaves, does he lose that credibility?
He didn’t catch on fire until he got onto Fox and will he burn out without Fox’s umbrella of respectability?
There are a ton of poeple who would join, I think if he decided to start his own network it should be a partnership between himself, Breitbart, and Matt Drudge.
I’d like to see an actual news network. Cover as much news nationally and internationally without politicizing the selection, presentation and commentary. Novel idea but it would never work.
