We just had Popeyes for dinner. There was a lively discussion regarding it compared to KFC. I'd like your thoughts. I say you can't beat the red beans and rice though.
Not to mention in cast iron.
See my post at #132...:)
Drool....
Popeyes all the way, KFC “HAD” good chicken 40 years ago, then they changed to a different “original recipe” for both original and extra crispy, they even ran a TV ad saying there were many “original recipes”. Todays Popeye’s is similer to KFC’s old extra crispy.
Popeye’s is way better than KFC
Strouds, Bojangles, Popeyes, KFC
I know Chicken Delight will get old really fast.
“When Col Sanders was alive, he used to pop into locations unannounced and tase the gravy.”
I have done the same thing, when I see a sign that says “Best fried chicken in......you pick a location. I go in and ask an employee, what color is the gravey? If they answer brown, I just thank them and keep on driving.
This goes double for Chicken Fried Steak. White gravy defines the end product of fried chicken and chicken fried steak being served.
No, that is not racist. :)
“tend to have their stores only in the ghetto areas.”
I prefer Churches and it is not in a ghetto area here in Normal Heights/Kensington (San Diego)!!
I take it you never experienced the joy of red-eye gravy on a chicken friend steak?
KFC origional and Popeye’s regular. Churches is OK but not very many spices in the batter, but the gizzards are great.
I have relatives in Mt.Kisco NY, and the VERY first place and LAST place they visit here in Florida is Publix Supermarket for their fried chicken. I rate it pretty highly myself, and the non-breaded spicy wings have to rate as some of the best I’ve EVER eaten (and I do chicken EVERY DAY!!!).
I prefer Popeye’s. KFC is too bland, kind of like Boston Market.
Dave: “Hal, what’s better: Popeye’s or KFC?”
Hal: “Dave, this conversation can serve no purpose anymore. Goodbye.”
...would have to agree...
after they went "P/C healthy", food quantity
went down rapidly / greasy.
When you can find it, Church’s is best.
Aye for Bojangles!
However, and I'm sure many will agree, good cooking knows no race.
Popeye...
That’s true, but still I have to say KFC’s brown gravy, if you find a good location, is like liquid crack!
