I'd like to own a iPad but I use word and excel files quite a bit for work. From what I can tell, from using the ipad in the Apple store, Word/Excel/PowerPoint files won't work on a iPad. Is this true?
If not, how do you get around this limitation?
does the ipad have capitable programs that can easily convert between MS office and ipad files?
I kinda feel sorry for Swordmaker. I don’t think I could point to a single FReeper who gets as much grief for trying to be genuinely helpful. Everyone needs to grow up and realize there is room for Apple, Microsoft, Android and others.
Can’t you just install Office? or Documents to go?
do the ipads work with netsticks if you don’t buy them set up for 3g?
I have little patience for people who think they know it all and that’s why I won’t have any more to say to you. Good day, sir.
I have been to an Apple store four times in my life: I was treated like a human on two of those occasions and both times I had my teenage daughters with me. When I was alone or with my wife, I was treated like I was an idiot. At Best Buy I dealt with a manager and got great service.
My bad experiences were in NJ and MD; one with a male and one with a female clerk. I’m sure your experience was just as valid as mine.
Has this Walter Mossberg article been posted to FR?Off topic:I pointed the creator of this thread to it already - having seen the article in dead tree format . . .
What's your opinion of FR Posting Form Enhancer?I have Firefox on my Mac, and with Form Enhancer I might actually use it. Does Grease Monkey strike you as something I should be leery of installing, from the security POV?
I never questioned the validity of your experiences. Just pointing out that Apple is hiring “old people” which is a welcome sign IMO.
We buy their products and I’ve become very “friendly in passing’ with those in the Glendale store.
That is a pretty weak ego for a doctor.
Because all that doesn’t fit in a 1.5lb 9mm thick “anywhere anytime” form factor.
I’m writing this as a passenger in a car right now, with no unfold/setup/boot involved. I’ve got web, email, apps, books, word processing, spreadsheets, phone, maps, gps, music, video, Netflix, video editing, games, publishing, networking, etc in a no-effort package. Sure other platforms do any of these better, but they don’t do it anywhere anytime.
There’s nothing worse than an idiot who thinks they’re smart. I pity you since that’s a dreadful way to go through life. Your screen name is certainly apropos (google that for an explanation).
Projection?
I pity you since thats a dreadful way to go through life.
Ah, compassion. Thank you.
Your screen name is certainly apropos (google that for an explanation).
I have heard that many times. It is hardly unique to you. Many others disagree but that is unimportant.
Just out of curiosity, what got you on this tear about me thinking I know everything or that I think I am smart? It certainly can't be anything I have said on this thread. When I say something I obviously think it is true but I hardly think I know everything and I can't remember ever pretending to. Please refresh my memory.
I just got a 'heads up' from Cabelas.
They have an iPhone app that is used to track hunting routes, blood trails, etc.
Could be used for your purposes also I'd guess.
Many iPhone apps will load on an iPad.
BTTT
>>>>I have little patience for people who think they know it all
After reading this thread I’m wondering how you live with yourself... smh.
You had to emerge from your slumber to add that bit of nonsense? Sheesh...better to remain quiet than to let all know what a troll you are...
You confirmed my observation. Thanks... and have a nice day wazoo aperture.
:)
Well, if you had started out asking why I had that opinion rather than attacking me we could have had a conversation. But, you 1) assumed you knew about me personally without knowing anything about me; 2) assumed that I was speaking of how I would be treated in an Apple Store rather than assume that I had been treated that way previously and that is why I said what I said.
So, after reading your post it was easy for me to then assume that you were someone who thought they knew everything about a situation while knowing nothing. Then, when you persisted, I figured you were just an idiot looking for a fight.
As I said in another post just FYI, I have been to Apple Stores on 4 occasions and treated badly on two (the two OK experiences were when I was with my teenage daughters). I was indeed treated in a condescending fashion once when alone and once when I was with my wife; they were in different stores and in different states. Perhaps you don't mind being treated badly by store clerks...who knows...you may be a masochist. And while every experience at Best Buy has not been terrific, in my experience the computer department people have been knowledgeable.
