A race to finish bunkers by 2012. The reporter is cute.
Yeah. When the tsunamis come rolling in.... I so want to be in a million dollar bunker.
A BOL has to be somewhere you can get to and I have to wonder how many live close to these ‘condo bunkers’? Plus the way they have anounce them the OPSEC is totally blown and everyone around will be knocking at their door wanting in.
tsunamis, earthquakes...sure. It’s the debt, default...the economy.
If my neighborhood was hit by a 14m high wall of water, a hermetically sealed cellar with its own air supply where I could keep all my stuff actually sounds pretty good.
I’d want to make sure the entrance couldn’t be blocked by falling buildings. And I’d try not to rent “Downfall”, “The Bunker” or half a dozen other movies set in claustrophobic conditions. Otherwise this sounds pretty decent.
From the video, shelters in Nebraska, locations secret... Like I said, they’re not so afraid of tsunamis or earthquakes. It’s the sovereign debt crisis ahead. They’re using their government-derived incomes to stock up in forts against the rabble. It’s getting downright funny.
Sounds like someone’s been playing a little too much Fallout.
Water for me is not a problem, many streams and lakes plus rainwater. I have filtration equipment.
I have an extensive first aid kit including surgical supplies and antibiotics.
As far as hygiene, I buy extra soap, shampoo, and toothpaste when I run low on the ‘house’ supply.
I train and plan weekly with a couple of like minded neighbors.
“Where will you be when the bombs fall?” Vault-Tec
Little missy in the video seems a little snarky.
“We’ve got provisions, and lots of beer...”
Missile not included.
That’s very impressive!
If you need any excuse to buy just a small amount of precious metals to go with your excellent domestic preparations: remember that a silver dollar immersed in a container (say 4 pints) of lake/river water will disinfect it overnight.
The water will contain a (tiny) 20 parts per billion of silver ions afterward, and the coin can be re-used indefinitely.
This trick was used by the settlers who conquered the Wild West, and may come in useful if you guys ever have to do that again :0)

“Where it ends, I don’t know. Does it lead to economic collapse? A true economic collapse would lead to anarchy, which could lead to 90% of the population being killed off.”
how convenient that the number is 90%...

Yup. How's the gold and silver bullion stacked over there in the corner going to save you from a tsunami, ahem.
Oh, and a tsunami? I’m at over 9,000 feet elevation. The cold can be a killer, though, and so can heat exhaustion in the tiny speck of summer. ;-)
