Dear FReepers,
Most of you know from experience that re-reading God's Word frequently causes us to reevaluate our lives out of a new, or fresh revelation we get from the scriptures. We are tempted to look for prophetic interpretations that don't become relevent until such a time as God decides that they should become known to us. Earlier today, I was reading an FR post about Matthew 24. It's the great warning chapter, which outlines what we are to watch out for at the beginning of the Last Days. It talks about wars, earthquakes and false messians; nothing new here folks. Of course, we have just finished the 20th Centuary the most war plagued time in man's history, so rumors of wars is nothing new. However, what really stimulates the thinking mind these days is the recent disasterous earthquakes in Japan, Indonesia, Haiti and Chile.

Not much “hope” in that chart, that is for certain : |
Nods. But a significant difference is, that prior to the quake, theirs was a VERY productive economy, as compared to our heavily consumer weighted one : /
Prayers lifted,
for good men to prevail with God’s strength... soon.

Fair enough.
Far, far, far worse
than the GREAT DEPRESSION.
They really are serious about reducing the global population to 200 million.
You don’t read very well, do you?
I read just fine. I know a dodge when I see one.
Or perhaps palmer or I should go out and prove that claim is false, otherwise it is true. Never mind we would have to be proving a negative. It isn't YOUR responsibility to prove it true, you just KNOW it to be so.
And I'm sure it's asking to much to remember from what YouTube video you saw this mentioned, or what conspiracy theory website. I'm sure you are exhausted from all the reading and viewing you do on this stuff and it is unreasonable to ask you to remember where that came from.
(sic)
Thanks much, well worth everyone’s time to watch.
Hmm, putting all of the 6.0+ earthquakes from that dump into a spreadsheet gives me these totals. Perhaps you can show me what I am missing, since I don't have any reading comprehension ability:
2000 161
2001 137
2002 140
2003 155
2004 157
2005 151
2006 153
2007 196
2008 180
2009 161
2010 173
Seems to me that there was a spike in 2007, but things have settled back down a bit - 2009 had the same number as 2000, and 2010 was below the peaks in 2007 and 2008.
So your own numbers don't even back your assertion. And still no sign of an admission from a scientific organization that earthquakes are on the uptick.
But what do I know? All I do is look at the smatterings of evidence that you can actually be bothered to provide - evidence that fails to back up your core assertion.
I'm sure there is a typo somewhere in my post that you can point to in lieu of making an actual rational response.
The Increasing Number and Intensity of Earthquakes Worldwide! - A Sign that the Day of the Lord is at Hand!
(In light of the New Zealand earthquake)
Of the many different natural disasters that exist, nothing is as terrifying and devastating as the awesome power of an earthquake. In just a few moments of time an earthquake can unleash catastrophic damage and the deaths of multitudes. Who can forget the recent earthquake in Haiti in 2010? As we inch ever closer to the coming Day of the Lord, we are seeing a marked global increase in the number and intensity of earthquakes - just as Jesus said we would (see Matt. 24:7-8; Mark 13:8)!
“As we inch ever closer to the coming Day of the Lord, we are seeing a marked global increase in the number and intensity of earthquakes - just as Jesus said we would”
The Facts from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS)
Over the past three decades the world’s seismologists and scientific community has observed and documented increasing numbers of 7.0 Richter magnitude scale (RMS) earthquakes. Earthquake activity has absolutely “skyrocketed” during the last thirty years, and many seismologists are seriously concerned and even panicked about what lies ahead.
Note the following from the USGS
From 1980 to 1990 the number of earthquakes with a 7.0 or greater RMS was 8.
From 1990 to 2000 the number of earthquakes with a 7.0 or greater RMS was 33.
From 2000 to 2010 the number of earthquakes with a 7.0 or greater RMS was... 121!
“In the last thirty years (from 1980 to 2010) there has been an overall 1500% increase in 7.0 RMS earthquakes world-wide!”
In comparing the total number of earthquakes recorded between the years 1980-1990 and 1990-2000, there was a 400% increase in 7.0 RMS earthquakes.
Comparing the years between 1990-2000 and 2000-2010, there was nearly another 400% increase in 7.0 RMS earthquakes.
In the last thirtyyears(from 1980 to 2010) there has been an overall 1500% increase in 7.0 RMS earthquakes world-wide!
This is the trend observed in the last thirty years. No wonder that the seismologist and scientific world community is in a state of sheer panic!
“Jesus stated that, Earthquakes would increase in intensity as a woman that is about to bring forth her child. As the birth pangs of labor intensifies, the register of the contractions increase more frequently and with greater intensity.”
Jesus stated that in the time leading up to the period known as the “Last Days” that earthquakes would increase in intensity as a woman that is about to bring forth her child (Matt 24:7-8). As the birth pangs of labor intensifies, the register of the contractions increase more frequently and with greater intensity. During the birth of all of my children, I personally watched and noted this pattern, and indeed for any who have ever observed the birth of a child, this reflects exactly what the Word of God has to say about it (Jer. 22:23; John 16:21).
Earthquakes in the Seven Year Tribulation
Earthquakes are just one of the many natural disasters that will come upon the world during this seven year period. Pestilence, famine, global war, supernatural judgments, demonic global oppression, and demonic dominance unparalleled since the dawn of man will transpire during this time (Isa. 24; Matt. 24; Rev. 6-19).
Jesus stated that at the beginning of this tribulation period, earthquakes would occur in many different places all over the face of the earth in great power and intensity (Luke 21:11; 1 Thess. 5:3).
Do You Believe?
My friend, one must be absolutely blind to miss the overwhelming evidence found in Almighty God’s Word which describe end-time events leading up to the Day of the Lord. As these ever increasing signs point to the Day of the Lord and the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, in which He will judge the world and its inhabitants for their multitude of transgressions against their Creator (Rev. 19:11-21), may you be prepared to receive and believe the precious truths and promises found in Almighty God’s Word, and to believe them with all your heart.
“These ever increasing signs point to the Day of the Lord and the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.”
Do you personally know the Lord Jesus as your Savior? If not, invest your time and faith to be sure that you do. In Him alone are found all the remedies for our fallen humanity and pardon for all our transgressions against His ETERNAL, RIGHTEOUS ABSOLUTES (John 3:16-17; 1 Cor. 1:30-31). Place your trust in Him today before you find yourself amidst the soon coming Day of Wrath.
The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand!

Funny, I don’t see a link or footnote in any of that. So I have no way of validating what is claimed. Guess I’ll have look it up myself.

From 2000 to 2010 the number of earthquakes with a 7.0 or greater RMS was... 121!
Funny, I went to the USGS website. They have a global search function, and the search returned 102 7.0 or higher earthquakes in the eighties, 153 in the Nineties, and 166 in the 2000s:

So it has increased somewhat, but not the massive increase your post is claiming.

Am I missing something dirtboy? You call me a liar and without any further ado, you snap. You're angry over exactly what?
Twice, I quote the USGS stats and you won't accept them. Then, I let you use your numbers and you dismiss a 50% increase as insignificant. Do you use much math in your everyday work? Fifty per cent is huge! I don't care what you talking about. What are you a Wisconsin teacher?
Thanks for the work you have done putting this together
I’m glad you appreciate reading my work. Would you be interested in reading novels based upon these ideas? I wonder if there’s a ministry here? I need to keep focused upon where the good Lord leds.
Damascus was ancient during the life of Jesus. Considered one of the oldest continuously occupied cities on the planet, Damascus actually has ‘the street called straight’ and an ancient synagogue. Approximately 12,000 years. Wow
Matthew 24 is a fascinating chapter. It is double-layered, foretelling the destruction of Jerusalem by the Romans in AD 70, then morphing into a prophecy of the Second Coming.
The passage to which you refer, the warning to pregnant women and nursing mothers, was a warning from Jesus to his disciples in Jerusalem to flee when the Roman armies begin to surround the city. “Let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. . . “
History records that Jesus’ followers who heeded his words and took shelter in the surrounding mountain caves escaped the horrors of the Roman seige and destruction.
It would have, indeed, been very difficult for pregnant women and nursing mothers, for additional strength and nutrition is necessary to bear and feed a child.
With respect, I think you’re stretching and misinterpreting a straightforward prophecy in trying to apply it to Japan.
