Otherwise, I'm up for a flat tax that EVERY INDIVIDUAL above a certain level of poverty pays. Why should some people be totally exempt from paying taxes? They use roads, they use libraries, they use public services such as police and firefighters.
No one should be exempt.

That is exactly right, you make 6k you pay $600.00, you make 60k you pay $6,000.00.

I'm thinking some incentive to get them to work. We have millions now that won't even do that.
On the other hand, I'd be willing to drop that provision.

No one should be exempt.
The same logic applies to those who currently pay taxes:
“You use the public utilities and those are financed, maintained or built using your taxes”.
If you are not paying taxes you have no vested interest in anything, except making sure the other Bastuhds “pay their fair share”, while you ride through life unblemished by any interaction with the taxman.
