There is a new raunchy game for the Nintendo Wii that has parents up in arms, claiming it promotes orgies and lesbian sex to children as young as 12.
The promotional video for the game, called We Dare, features two couples following on-screen instructions from the game console, engaging in such acts as stripping, lesbian foreplay and spanking. One version of the trailer ends with the couples swapping partners and going off to have sex.
The game is intended to be marketed to adults, so a spokesperson for the French maker Ubisoft said, but it has received a rating of 12+, indicating that the game is safe to be played by anyone over the age of 12.
Our children are our most precious resource. And yet every day, they are being bombarded by the media with all manner of sexual material. Shows such as MTV's "Skins" appear to glorify underage sex. Hollywood celebrities like Miley Cyrus have set poor examples for teenage girls by their deviant behavior both on and off the screen. Even some of the shows on supposedly wholesome television networks such as Disney Channel and Nickelodeon contain questionable programming which appears to promote suggestive behavior on the part of adolescents.
Most parents these days are not prudes. They understand that in the world in which we live, children are being asked to grow up more quickly. And it's difficult for even the most conscientious of parents to prevent exposure to things that those of us from an older generation did not need to contend with.
The Internet has played a huge role in making inappropriate material easily accessible to our youth. While it can be a valuable resource for education and information, many parts of the World Wide Web are dark portals into areas that can be extremely dangerous for young people. Even social networking sites are now available to kids who create pages which can make them vulnerable to attacks by predators.
At a time when all of these forces are coming together to strip the innocence from our children, the last thing we need is a video game manufacturer launching a program that gives hands-on instruction on every form of debauchery.
Parents have a right to be outraged, and Nintendo should be ashamed of itself.

I was just about to post the same thing. Between Hollywood and the public schools, this stuff is no big deal to most kids. Now, whether or not that should be the case is a whole nother discussion.

Well, the whole issue here is that the rating on the damn game says it’s OK for 12 and up. doesn’t seem like the rating “scheme” is set up all that well eh. And as for “If you don’t want your kids to see it don’t let them” argument, sorry, but parents cannot be with their kids 24/7 and they are not robots that we can control. SOCIETY as a whole needs to care enough about children for them to really be protected. It’s not enough that it be just his/her parents. And yes, I do believe that you have a right to view smut. But I also believe that your right comes AFTER the rights of children to be protected.

I totally agree! I can’t stand the whole mindset that some people have about this kind of issue. As far as their logic goes it would be fine and dandy if the world were just one big orgy they’d just tell you to keep your children inside during the peak orgy activity. I’d say, No why don’t you keep your sex to yourselves and do it in private away from my childs eyes. This little video game is but one small aspect. I’m talking about the subject in general. There is so much selfishness out there that people couldn’t care LESS about the children if it comes to their personal desires over anything that satisfies their lustful appetites. Then, we know we live in the sad times where Jesus told us this would happen.

“If you don’t like it don’t buy it” is lame already. And it’s not either or, it’s both and (w/regards to your juxtaposing the dangers of violence over sex. You miss the point if you think staying quiet and just “turning it off” is the answer towards the smut slime the entertainment throws at us and our children.

I know you are being sarcastic, but following them around is not what I’m talking about. Parents need to know the homes their kids are visiting. If they were invited to the movies, call the friend’s parents and ask what movie they are going to. If you know the parents buy “Grand Theft Auto” for their children, it might be best to have that kid come to your house. Most importantly, train children so they know to flee from evil. Talk to them what they’ve seen during their day and use the conversation as teachable moments. Of course we can’t insulate ourselves from this sewage in the world but we can be taught why it’s dangerous to sit and play in it.
I DO stand for something. It's called "Liberty". I won't advocate for the banning of guns because some yahoo shot up a crowd. I won't advocate for the banning of alcohol because some drunk drove his car into a school bus. We all have choices to make in life and I firmly believe that it's better to equip ones self and ones progeny for making good decisions rather than to simply ask the rest of the world to change so that those decisions don't have to be made.
OBVIOUSLY you equip your children to stay out of the cesspool, that is a no brainer, but when the society around you is shoveling the crap you SAY SOMETHING more meaningful than “turn it off if you don’t like it”..You sound like “them”. Liberty is not sustainable anyway without responsible argument.
I agree with what you say but I don’t think it’s do-able for a lot of parents. The community is not the same as when our parents were growing up. It’s hard to trust other kid’s parents even IF you get to know them a little. ANd it’s hard to really get to know anybody these days. When I was a pre-teen my mother talked to my girlfriend’s mothers about my coming over and told them they didn’t allow me to watch R-rated movies or ride in cars of anyone they didn’t know. Guess what we did at their house a lot of the times? Watch rated R teen flicks. Those parents did not care. At 12 years old my friend had a sleepover and on her porch there we were at midnight catching porn on the pay channel. My best friend’s parents cared so much about me that they forbid their daughter to play with me at one point because I was “boy crazy.” Never once thinking to call and tell my folks that there was a 24 year old guy 2 houses down from them that was enticing me to hang out with him and I did because one of my friends from the faster crowd hung out there too. As a parent you cannot trust anyone else to care about your kids and not let them be exposed to junk.
I understand what you are saying. I experienced similar situations growing up, too. It almost ruined my life.
There are parents who can be trusted. It takes time to seek them out and find them.
You’re right about many parents not caring what their kids do. That is the problem today. Many parents are just too darn lazy and self-absorbed. That’s when their kids come to my house only. I don’t want my kids going to theirs so they can see mom’s drunk boyfriend smoking dope in the house. Their boy used to come play at our house all the time to get away from that misery. His mom bought him Grand Theft Auto, which he wasn’t allowed to bring to our house, and we discussed why.
And for those touchy situations, my kids were taught right from wrong. They know not to watch a bad movie or play a nasty video game. They despise the whorish Hollywood stars and popular “music” artists. Yeah they get caught in situations sometimes, real world, but they turn away from it, flee from it, and then tell me about it.
