I’m a capitalist for certain but capitalism shouldn’t rise and fall on the likes of someone like Charlie Sheen. God help us if it ever does. I’m reminded of just a few years ago I don’t know if it was put on during a ratings sweep or during one of the SuperBowls as an alternative to the games half-time show but a re-broadcast of a very particularly funny episode of “The Carol Burnett Show’’( I think it was the one where they did the’’ Gone With The Wind’’ parody) drew millions of viewers. The response to it was phenomenal. That says a lot. It says a lot about America and where it was then and where it is now.
People like Charlie can't do that. It's a shame they are rewarded so highly for being able to hold it together for a half hour a week at most if they shoot in front of a live studio audience. Even then they have at least a chance of a second take. Not the kind of people I dealt with.
