Check out Steve Vaus’ website. I have all of his music. My favorite: I’d rather die on my feet than live on my knees.
Also try Carl Klang.

I love Barry Sadlers music. One of my favorites is Letter from Vietnam. He also sings a salute to the nurses over in Vietnam which is another good one. I have the cd which has these songs plus more in my car. When I go on trips, I listen to them. My favorite Barry Sadler song is "Ba Mươi Ba" (33), a French brand of beer brewed in South Vietnam under license. It apparently contained formaldehyde to keep it from going stale in the hot clomate of Vietnam. The song is available on one of Sadler's albums.
Other Vietnam-inspired songs that I like are Bob Seger's The Yellow Beret (1966) and Wish You Were Here by Pat Boone, which got air play on country-western stations in the fall of 1966. "Take the Time" by the Shangri-Las (1967) is one of the few pro-war songs to be released by a major rock group, although at the time the group was in decline and the song sold poorly.

I can think of a few . . .
Duke Ellington and His Orchestra, "The Star Spangled Banner" (the opening cut on his 1943 Carnegie Hall concert, available on Fantasy/Prestige CD)
The Impressions, "This is My Country"
James Brown, "Night Train"

Also — any songs from the old (60’s) “Up With People” record/movement/tour group...don’t remember the names of all the songs, but they ALL dealt with patriotic themes....if any one knows how to get ahold of those songs, please alert me.....FReegards....
