Former television personality Laurie Dhue says she no longer knew who she was and was tired of suffering in silence from alcoholism when she decided to quit drinking and get help four years ago.
Dhue, who turns 42 tomorrow and was an anchor for the Fox News Channel, MSNBC and CNN, battled her addiction to alcohol for "at least" a decade and a half, she told the "Today" show Wednesday.
"I hid my alcoholism for many, many years," she said. "I was probably a high-functioning alcoholic, as so many people are. But there were cracks, certainly, and there were definitely times when people asked me what was wrong, and I just -- I didn't even know, myself."
Dhue remembers the day she realized she had a terrible problem and decided to get help...

Good luck to her.

I wondered where she was.

Wondered what happened to her. Glad to hear she is sober. I hope she conquers her demons that led to addiction and stays sober and healthy.

Yes, best wishes to her. Didn’t know she got caught up in this. Haven’t seen her in long time, but that was one beautiful woman.

I have wondered what was up with her. Hopefully, she will be able
to kick the addiction and return to Fox. She was the best looking lady
on Fox.

Damn. I never would have guessed. Really liked her on Fox and not just for the obvious reasons. She’s proven that she’s not just smart, but smart enough to get help...good luck to her.

Wow, I would never have guessed that of her, from what I saw when she was anchoring or doing news updates.

Dhue didn't intend for her story to get out, she told "Today," but a reporter in attendance wound up writing about the anchor's stunning admission. She should have known better. Fox News people don't get privacy.

Wow, she decides to share a story of personal struggle at a
prayer breakfast, and a reporter - apparently without consent - wrote a story about it. That's pretty crappy.
Was it a AA meeting, or some other kind of therapy where there's a legal expectation of privacy? No. But, in the interest of human decency, one would think that something shared at a prayer breakfast would be self-evidently off the record.
