I’ll stick with Florida, but if that peters out then we scramble for Texas.

We lived in New Mexico for four years, then when Gary Johnson couldn’t run for another term we scooted.

Our new Republican Governor Martinez seems to be doing a good job of cleaning house so far. I moved from Florida (way expensive) to New Mexico (much cheaper) five years ago and have been happy with the decision. No hurricanes, no $6000 of property tax on a 1200 square foot home, no $5000 a year for homeowners insurance, no palmetto bugs...

Beware of what part of Florida. There are liberal strongholds in SE Florida (W. Palm Beach all the way to Miami), Volusia County (Daytona Beach), Alachua County (Gainesville), and Leon County (Tallahassee). SW Florida (Ft. Myers and Naples) is good. Orange County is too crowded, and they elected Alan Grayson, so they're subject to lapses in judgement. Seminole County is conservative. I really like the open north central area of Florida. I live in Polk County where we have Sheriff Grady Judd. You couldn't ask for a better sheriff. We're between Tampa and Orlando, so we can be in the center of either city in about an hour.
