Excellent movie. Exposes the nonsense going on in the Department of Education. Tears the unions to shreds for sheltering terrible teachers, gets to the heart of where the money is being wasted.

My local TP had a trip to the movies to see this. Will infuriate and sadden you at the same time!

Definitely not left wing.

If you'll forgive this exceedingly delayed response, having just seen Waiting for Superman tonight, I am in total agreement with your appraisal of the film. It accurately depicts the monkey wrench the unions have thrown into our education system. He exposes the utter failure of the tenure system and how it has reduced what was once the premiere education system of the world to among the worst among developed nations.

As posted elsewhere in this thread, I think the director started off with liberal notions and then was smacked squarely in his belief system by reality. Another film where that's the case is Warren Beatty's Reds from the early 80's. Intended as a paean to the Bolshevik revolution as witnessed by John Reed, this film turns to be an indictment of the failures of Communism (especially in an unforgettable scene played by Jack Nicholson as Eugene O'Neill).

Well, I was certainly behind the curve in seeing Waiting for Superman, some six months after its release. But, better late than never, I'm glad I saw it. And anyone who's possibly interested in the Wisconsin teacher's situation should view it.

Glad you had a chance to see it. Folks need to get involved in their schools, their districts, and their local government.

The only way to change it is from the inside out.

BTTT....must see
