Jesus wasn’t being abusive when he called the Pharisees serpents, whitewashed sepulchers and den of vipers? He was being civil when He fashioned a whip and drove the money lenders from His Father’s house?!
Bet you can't back that up with examples.
I just went back and reread the comment. Where on earth do you see "crude and abusive language" in his post?
Shouldn’t one be providing tactical air support if one is above the fray?
Old School "civility" and "inciteful rhetoric."
There's no school like the Old School.
I think that is exactly the way. After all, how else can you nuke the freaks from space?
We’ve been “rising above the fray” ever since Reagan left office, and look where it’s gotten us! It’s time to fight back (verbally) hard, fast, and relentless. We also need to go on the offensive. Let’s start by pointing out some of the real world tragedies being caused by these libtard policies. Ignore the MSM - go around them.
Bob Dole and Juan McCain got the media’s stamp of approval because they are RINOs. Dole just campaigned for Obamacare. McCain wants UN control of energy, unlimited immigration, etc. Maybe their being “nice” helped with the media, or maybe the media just helped them look “nice”.
Absolutely! Voicing this eloquently and without abusive language and angry intonations will be more effective. It is very important to give voice to dissent. It is equally important to do so in a civil manner.
I suggest all here go read the Founders' works concerning selef governance and the qualities that should be expect of those People who do self govern. We have definately lost the knack of polite discourse. We behave like ruffians rather than gentlemen.
Not every one recognizes our nation is dealing with two opposite political forces, only one of which is consistent with the Constitution.
As I have posted elsewhere:
Not every decent, God-fearing gentleman (Boehner) is capable of prevailing in a street fight, especially a fight waged by the likes of the present crowd. The Socialists and the Republicans are in a struggle for control of our nation, and it appears only the Socialists fully understand that.
I am making general reference to what people of today mistake for polital discourse: Foul and abusive language. The author did not qualify how to push back, except to scoff at taking the higher ground. I am assuming that taking the lower ground like our adversaries includes the abusive behaviour. That implication seem clear to me.
I take issue with abusive and insulting discourse.
The Left seems to have abandoned their frontal lobes for pure limbic responses. No rational thought, no empirical reasoning, no logic...just angry emotion.
The only arrow in their quiver is character assassination. And that is the fray we must remain above.
Let them scream their insults and obloguy...is that the level to which we want to sink.
We think...they stink (oops, I think I just sank to their level).
No, I'm not doing any such thing.
You need to go back and read your post. It was CERTAINLY an accusation against ClearCase-guy. If you are the "Christian" you claim to be, you will apologize to CCG for such a false accusation.
'You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.' ....which is what you did.
In this case Sarah wasn’t playing dirty - she waited after a few days and facts became available and responded in a “presidential way” and talked about the victims and American Exceptionalism and Political Discourse and yet she was still accused of being wrong’’.....it didn’t matter what she said she was going to be criticized anyway because the MSM isn’t noble it wants Obama reelected a
IMHO there is little to be gained by typing in all caps or boldfacing a post. People on FR are the choir, and there's only so much to be gained by preaching to the choir. The question is, what is to be done? IMHO we should sue. Never mind that Sarah (et. al.) is a "public figure," sue on the basis of willful, unambiguous disregard for the truth. Sue on the basis that the Associated Press is a monopoly (SCOTUS already ruled that, back in 1945).
I agree we need to respond, and respond incisively, but response has to be done in a way that doesn’t play into the hands of the left. Even after the multiple broadsides launched from the left, aided by the MSM, trying to pin the Tuscon shooting on the right, for the majority of people it didn’t stick.
We need to speak softly and carry a big stick. That stick is truth and perseverance. If we are ‘surgical’ in our responses, and truthful and incisive, we will come out on top.
Calling someone a serpent is a Biblical metaphore. That is a long way from I hear people say to each other these days. Jesus didn't use ANY of the phrases that are in common use today.
Civility is one thing; timidity is another. Too many people on the right spend half their time apologizing for themselves and trying to disassociate themselves from other people on the right. You don't see the lefties wasting their energy like that.
When your country and everything patriots have handed down to you are being taken away, you have a right and a duty to shout. The other side has the media, government and the academy in their corner already. They can afford to talk softly (although they usually don't), because everything they say comes booming through the echo chamber of the establishment. We don't have that luxury.
They want us to shut up because we're starting to be heard. Why should we fall for that?
We need to go on offense BEFORE they attack, make THEM respond...Like Glenn Beck does practically every day.
They have attack machines we only have responses.
Surprise attacks take them off their game and put THEM on the defensive.
