Thanks for your swift replies everybody.

The question I asked in the title is extremely pertinent to me as in NZ, Labour party (closes thing to the democrats) supporters tend to be very open to debate. In fact political debate is something that is done rather well here.

Because I do not live in the US I cannot say from experience how the left wing element in your country behaves. I can only go on what I see in the news etc.

If there is anything any of you would like to know about how nations outside of the US view the state of US affairs, please fire away. I shall do my best to answer all questions.

And to however said that I lost them when examining the decline of the USA as the world’s ONLY preeminent super power, please explain how I lost you.

I am English by descent, so I know all about great nations and their inevitable declines after all.

We're English by descent too, cousin, but we believe in our nation's exceptionalism and innate superiority.

Try it sometime. It feels good, and makes you a better person. Not to mention the fact that when a people no longer believe they lead the world, they don't. Real exceptionalism begins in the heart and mind.
