Probably too many vanity posts
Yes,it’s really bad.
I’m outta here for a while.
I have not noticed any problem, but I am far away from the USSA, and would never think of returning, as long as the Marxist are in power.
That is a legitimate question asked in good faith that deserves an answer from the powers-that-be.
Haven't you heard?
It's Bush's fault!
Myself and others have experienced the same thing here. I would suspect a Destributed Denial of Service attack. That happens when hundreds or thousands of computers are programmed to send repeared queries that overload the server and takes out all services or really slows down the ones that are serviced. That this comes just as the Republicans have been sworn into the House of Representatives seems too much to be coincidence.
Are these issues related to server problems? Or are we really under attack? ;o)
This something you don’t won’t to happen during a fund raising campaign.
it is slow and slow. wednesday night unable to get on at all. what is going on. all other conservative sites that I utilize including Michnews are quick response. free republic is like molasses in january, wait it is january.
I hope the FR servers/databases don’t crash one day and take out all the old posts. Just think of all the wit & wisdom stored on those hardrives — over a decade of FReeperdom’s collective genius.
BTW, is there any way a person can download all their old posts? Not that my posting history is anything worth crowing about particularly, but it would be neat to have access to the whole pile of it without having click through one page at a time.
...could be with all the latest news and activities, the place is just busy...
The problem is that JimRob does not want to be “a sellout” by taking money.
Apparently he thinks you have to sell your soul to take money from people.
So, he goes begging every quarter, instead of getting rich on the most successful tap into conservatives on the web.
I thought we like capitalism here? I would LOVE IT if this site went commercial an JimRob got rich. IT would also help pay they bills and make this site more secure.
If this site goes down, limping along like this, we lose a VALUABLE BATTLE in this war.! (and dont think liberals are not making war on this site)
I’ve found FR to be particularly slow in the last few months, so much so that I had to remove it as my start page. Right now FR is one of the slowest sites I visit, and I visit a bunch of them. Just my seven cents.
You’re not alone.
And when it is not slow, I get the following message.
The server at www.freerepublic.com is taking too long to respond.
* The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer’s network connection.
* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.
Try again
The stuxnet story showed me that the government can take out any site it feels like taking out.
Unfortunately when you are over the target you tend to take alot of flack.
Wish I knew the answer to that question. We’d be closer to a solution.
