The site is REALLY slow. There seem to be issues that have been ongoing. I know you're in a Freepathon, but in the LAST Freepathon, I gave you quite a bit of a donation. Why? Because I like the site and I thought I ought to contribute.
This slowness is really frustrating. What's the problem?
Well...I haven’t seen the question answered.
I am asking the question:
Why is the site so slow lately?
Thank for the “back story”. :-)
There’s a Catholic site I used to visit frequently (I’ll leave it unnamed), but every other third time I’d click their link, the site would be down. I don’t know what the problem was (and still is), but I would also like to know why Free Republic is down (or slow) at times. I couldn’t get on at all all day Wednesday; but I’ve put myself on the 12-step program anyway, so maybe this is a blessing in disguise (however not for the owners).
LMAO.....now that was funny.....stay safe !....:o)
The problem is that JimRob does not want to be “a sellout” by taking money.
Apparently he thinks you have to sell your soul to take money from people.
So, he goes begging every quarter, instead of getting rich on the most successful tap into conservatives on the web.
I thought we like capitalism here? I would LOVE IT if this site went commercial an JimRob got rich. IT would also help pay they bills and make this site more secure.
If this site goes down, limping along like this, we lose a VALUABLE BATTLE in this war.! (and dont think liberals are not making war on this site)
Am I logged on? Dang this is Hugh and Series.
I’m just stuned that anyone would ask why the site is slow.
Then why not leave the thread up and post this information? Not just have it disappear? Would be so comforting.
Jim posted once that John spends a lot of his time fending off attacks. I would not want John's job.
It was a vanity that had no information.
Let me know how it turns out— I hafta take a shower.
I’ve found FR to be particularly slow in the last few months, so much so that I had to remove it as my start page. Right now FR is one of the slowest sites I visit, and I visit a bunch of them. Just my seven cents.
Not quite sure what your message here is.
They ask for money and they receive it.
I hope Jim is making a decent living.
I LOVE capitalism...as I said, I gave money. Quite bit.
I don’t like throwing my money away....see...asking why the product quality is suffering now is a legit question.
Should capitalists be stupid? You pay $500 dollars for a ring of fool’s gold because you like the guy who sold it to you?
Again...I’m NOT trying to offend by asking what in the world is going on?
If Jim needs a big donor...he could probably get one. In the mean time...the site is so slow that it’s unfriendly to posters and readers.
It has happened to me on several occasions. You have my permission to scan my 12000 + posts and find them.
You’re not alone.
And when it is not slow, I get the following message.
The server at www.freerepublic.com is taking too long to respond.
* The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer’s network connection.
* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.
Try again
So? It was still a thread.
I guess I ought to feel privileged that this thread remains...but still, no answers.
I didn’t just give 20$...I ponied up and gave 100$.
Maybe that’s why the thread remains...but it would still be good to have some answers.
I’m hugh and series. I’m not gonna set my beeber on stune or anything...
I’m just asking what’s up.
You don't get it. This is FREE Republic. Totally sponsored by posters in the community. Big donors and advertisers would want CONTROL. The answer is NO! We have become THE premier grassroots conservative website under Jim's direction and it will stay that way.
Very slow here too. Hopefully they’ll get ‘er going right soon.
It was pulled. It was inappropriate. Get over it.
The stuxnet story showed me that the government can take out any site it feels like taking out.
