My husband bought me some of my favorite soup, Campbell's Cream of Potato. My mouth got all ready and I sipped the first spoon. I spit it back in the bowl. It tasted TERRIBLE! I thought it was spoiled. Nope. Now! With Sea Salt Added! If I wanted sea salt I'd go float in the ocean!
I just discovered that they've done the same to Vegetarian Vegetable. No more Campbell's soup for me. And I wrote them to tell them where they can stick their sea salt! I don't buy Healthy Choice soups because they taste awful. So they are now going to force their idea of healthy on consumers? The left is taking over everything and forcing their ideas on us. I'm really angry. They stick their nose in every aspect of our lives.
I guess I'll just have to make my own.
A few on the thread have opined that they changed more than the salt. My Hubby ate it and said it does taste strange and has a weird aftertaste.
Thanks for the post Mama Dearest.
The only lamb I can find is Halal. Sometimes, I am also looking at some pork, and a package or two might end up in the wrong spot. Purely by mistake, you understand....they are kept right next to each other.
Cheap shot! lol
Are you on antibiotics? A fever seems to indicate antibiotics.
Nope. My friend has the same thing and he's taken antibiotics all 3 times. Didn't seem to make a difference.
Fairly recently, according to the news item that was here on FR. I don’t have it at my fingertips. I just remember reading it here.
Many times store brands are the exact same as the name brand with just a different label pasted on. I'm betting that's what happened to my Thanksgiving casserole. It tasted like tin can or something. Everyone hated it so I have it to the dogs. The dogs wouldn't touch it so it went to the garbage. Never again. The only canned soup I buy are maybe a couple cream of mushrooms and a couple beef broths in an entire year.
As soon as I read about Campbells going “halal”, I stopped buying any of their products.
I also stopped going to my favorite Indian Buffet restaurant the day I saw the halal truck delivering their meat. The owners of the restaurant are Hindu, yet they are catering to muslims?
Enough Already!
Crackers can be good for the stomach, and ginger ale can be helpful as well. You've been sick for quite a while, it seems. :(
I totally missed the halal crap but I'm not buying their drek anymore anyway.
Been drinking a lot of tea. This was going away and came back with a vengeance. Worse than the first time.
A few years ago we made a delicious broccoli and cheese casserole, but from scratch. We should try that one again.
You may be overdoing it. It’s not unusual for someone to start feeling a bit better, overdo it and then have a relapse. You may not have been getting enough rest and sleep recently. I’m convinced that frequent naps are essential to recover from an illness.
I bought the old fasion vegetable soup. BAD! It was 80% small round noodles. No NOODLES were visible pictured on the can.
DJ...
I am a smarty pants!
One of the other good souls here just freep-mailed me about my positive attitude, which prompted me to recount a long embarrassing story from yesterday about my trip to town to buy some snowshoes, ‘cause we got thirty inches of powder out here, and I can’t get out and about to scout for coyotes who might want to snatch my two darling yuppie-smothered kitties and I can’t allow that, and on the way out of my driveway I saw some tracks through the fresh stuff and stopped to verify that they were elk tracks-—they were-—but when I walked over I took a step too far and plunged into the drift up to my hips, and after (sometime after) all the thrashing was done and I was at the store I realized I was missing my $500 polarized prescription fly-fishing sunglasses, which I still haven’t found and must still be under tons of snow-—AND WHICH I HAVEN’T YET QUIT POUTING ABOUT!!
Damn lovable cats damn snow damn elk damn country living etc.
I thought I wrote you thinking that this wail over SEA SALT soup was just too much to take-—I mean, REALLY!-—when what I and you and the other freeper now realize, I was actually writing to myself.
Like getting a thorn out of my big snow-shoed paw, you know?
The hell with the soup AND my glasses, is what I say. Thank you for the wake-up call. And most of all-—Happy New Year to you and yours!
I’ll add the deglazing to the notes I took on how to make it.
I know it will be good, because it has bacon in it!
Cheers!
I can’t take naps. There’s nobody to pick up the slack. And then Christmas was upon us and all that stress. What a mess that was! The car died on the way to my oldest’s house. Limped it home and got the company van. $75 to fill the tank to drive two hours at 6pm on Christmas Day. But I got to see my oldest Grandson for the first Christmas we’ve ever had together. He’s 20 and his Mom kept him away. So the uncomfortable ride was worth it.
Yikes. I hope you find the sunglasses. :(
Search the web for some recipes, or buy yourself a good recipe book that specializes in all differnt types of soup. I don’t eat canned soups anymore. I prefer making my own because they taste better and are more wholesome. I just finished making Ham & Navy Bean Soup from the ham (with bone) that we had for Christmas. At Thanksgiving, I use the turkey carcass to make Cream of Turkey Soup. And my French Onion Soup is to die for!! Most of the recipes I make were found on the internet...and they are excellent!
Yeah. Veggies now look like noodles...the rotten scammers. I thought there used to be truth in advertising laws? Didn't Joe Namath get in trouble for those pantyhose commercials because he didn't really wear them?
Stress will always do it. I’m glad to hear about your Grandson, though. That must have been something!
