I'm in a suburb 30 miles due west of Chicago.
I was freeping when the computer started shaking like a twenty-dollar television set.
Then my heavy computer chair started rockin' and rollin'.
The shaking created a dizzy feeling that hasn't quite left me yet.
I'm going to sit back and read further comments here. Thanks for posting!

So you felt it up west of Chicago?
I lived in s. ca for 6 years and been through several earthquakes. They are unnerving. Read up on safety with earthquakes. In CA we had to strap our heater down and hot water heater. Any tall furniture was hooked to the wall. All cabinets had those little child safety locks on them. To keep dishes and what not from flying out and breaking everywhere. One of the problems with earthquakes is, even if it’s not enough to bring a building down. You can end up with glass everywhere. In the middle of the night that can be rather nasty. Have a wrench so you can shut off gas lines to your house. They use to tell you to get into a door jam during an earthquake, now they tell you not to do that. I’m not sure where they tell you to go now. Under a table?
