For many people, Christmas is a time for celebration. It is a time of parties, gift giving, reunions, food and vacationing.
Christmas is also a time of music, and there are countless songs that people enjoy during the holiday season. The music of the holiday season is something that unites people, as both religious and popular songs are enjoyed by a wide variety of people.
Of course, not all Christmas songs are universally enjoyed. Some tend to be a little more annoying than others and some are flat-out painful.
This may be due to the song itself, or it may be because it has simply been overplayed for so long that no one wants to hear it anymore. With that in mind, here are a few of the most annoying Christmas songs and why they are difficult to hear during the season.
Annoying Christmas Song No. 5: I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas
We sang this song at my Junior High Concert back in 1975.
I agree.. I do like the 12 days, the old version of Santa Baby and Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer.

I’m with you. She’s as cute as can be. She makes the commercials.
About not listening . . .
From Thanksgiving on, that’s just not possible. It’s everywhere and loud. From dogs barking out Jingle Bells to rap singers styling on Silver Bells.
Even the good, Christmas tunes are turning into instant gag reflex for me.
Hymns included.
Signed: E. Scrooge
They creep me out but I have to admit they are light years better than me.
So I'm not casting stones...sigh
Grandma and the reindeer is just a light-hearted song, IMO. I don’t mind this stuff. It’s not meant to be religious, so I don’t take it as such.
Hey.. I used to hate playing that...now I miss it!
This list is immediately exposed as garbage because it doesn’t have “Jingle Bells” by the barking dogs.
And I LIKE the hippo song AND the 12 Days of Christmas. :p
I’m familiar with Santa Baby... Eartha Kitt did some great stuff...
True...I was flying to Malaysia when this came out and the flight attendants on Malaysia Airlines could’t get enough of it all flight long
So for everyones listening enjoyment here is Paul McCartney’s Wonderful Christmas Time

I shall exit this thread never to return for fear of my life
Agreed. I only hear that song at Christmas and I hate it when I hear it.
Stupid song.
The Divine Infant, being forever free of sin and aware of His role from the get-go, probably wouldn’t have reacted to such a thing by getting cranky or wailing. Even though it is a fantasy.
The first time I heard it, it eliminated all doubt that George Michael was a poofter.
And I get annoyed when Barbara Streisand and Neil Diamond sing Christmas songs about Christ.
Christmas Shoes. It makes me crazy.
Some kid going out and buying shoes for his dead mother in her coffin. Geez.
Yep. This one has just managed to annoy me over time.
“Jingle Bell Rock” is, unfortunately, unavoidable. But somewhere I have an LP of Norwegian Christmas Dirges which I’m sure would counteract it, if only I could find the thing.
