That poster reminds me: I’ve deleted everything I had by Cat Stevens.

"Tom Waits overrated fuax beatnik alcoholic-unlistenable " Yes, put me in that camp. But, he has some friends here, surprisingly.
The only way Waits could be worse, is if he was in a duet with Bob Dylan. My ears are bleeding just thinking about it.

He’ll probably never get in. Detroit needs to just establish their own hall of fame.
Between Fortune Records & Motown (and the artists on those labels), Suzi Quatro, Amboy Dukes, MC5, Stooges (really an Ann Arbor band), Kiss, The Romantics, The Gories, The Henchmen, The Dirtbombs, The White Stripes...
I’m sure there are more.
Detroit may not draw tourists, but there should still be a local hall. Just as many cities need one.

“The only way Waits could be worse, is if he was in a duet with Bob Dylan”....or a trio with Leonard Cohen?

Oh yeah, and Alice Cooper. .... as well as Bob Seger

Yep, Suzi Quatro's early work (in the Pleasure Seekers) can be heard here:

I was under the mistaken belief until now that this album also had Bob Seger's cuts for Dave Leone, but something I read says that there was a legal issue that held up those 6 tracks.
Also forgot to mention Mitch Ryder and Texas-gone-(Flint)Michigan's ? And The Mysterians as being Detroit area bands.
But Cleveland had Alan Freed reputedly giving it a name on the radio.
Plenty of Cleveland bands though.

FWIW, ZERO Rap ought to inducted - it's NOT "Rock" by any definition. The leftist homo (Jan Wenner) who calls the shots wouldn't dream of not being "diverse" and "multicultural". I have followed music of all genres pretty closely for several decades, and I never even heard of half the record scratchers ("hip hop artists" / "rappers") who've been "inducted".
By the way, anybody know if Ted Nugent has been inducted?

So where are the black punk bands like Death (from Detroit, sort of a black version of the Stooges or Pere Ubu)?
Amazon sample: Politicans in my Eyes (by Death)
Bad Brains?
What about rock artists like Ray Sharpe? Bunker Hill? The Upsetters (Texas not reggae)? Johnny Nash? Esquerita?
Plenty of black artists without having to touch rap. Might as well put Charlie Pride in the hall if it's about skin color more than rock and roll.
