This is definitely alt-rock and not so well known, I'm kind of enjoying the band Built To Spill of late. Think Dinosaur, Jr. with a slight Neil Young-ish bent to the lead vocals. A good starting tune would be Hindsight off their recent CD. Their politics are suspect but that's true of 90% of anything out there, outside country & western.

I’ve never cared at all for Billy Corgan, he’s disturbed and disturbing imho, but I’ve always enjoyed Smashing Pumpkins.

Not many songs bring me to the verge of tears, but “Thirty-Three” does it every time.
