What's the best way to secure the safety of the passengers on the flight? Is that the question?
I don't think giving some people passes and patting down grannies is the right answer!

I saw a quote the other day that nailed the airport security issue, I'll see if I can find it, but the point was approximately this:
The idiocy of the TSA's 'security' is that it is focused on keeping the wrong things off airplanes, the rationale being that if bad people get on an airplane without weapons, they can't bring down the plane. The Israelis focus on keeping the wrong people off airplanes, the rationale being that if bad people don't get on a plane in the first place, they will never have a chance to bring down the plane.
The TSA is a monument to political correctness, because our current government can't bring itself to entertain the thought of doing Israeli-style profiling, so even children, nuns and the elderly get special scrutiny to prove that we are not singling out a particlular type of individual.
