WASHINGTON--As his controversial tenure nears its end, Sen. Roland Burris gave a farewell address Thursday lamenting there will be no blacks at all in the next Senate.
"This is simply unacceptable," he said. "We can and we will and we must - do better."
Today, highlighting a long list of his accomplishments in the Senate, including among them the passage of health care reform, Burris joked that he may return to the Senate to vote to let gays and lesbians serve openly in the military.
"I'm from Chicago," he quipped. "I'll vote twice."

West can take Rubio’s spot when Marco becomes VP in 2012
Is that guy still in office?
I sincerely hope the Pubs put the f’in’ SQUASH on illegal voting now that we have the numbers...to even JOKE about voting twice is grounds for removal...
Hey, Roland (I can call you Roland, right?)—Why don’t you just ask a couple of your white-bread Dem colleagues to step down so a deserving Black politician can be appointed as their replacement. Given the Dems professed love for long-oppressed and disenfranchised Blacks, I’m sure you’ll have no problem getting volunteers.
Hey, Roland, don’t let the door hit you in the behind when you leave.
Don’t worry, Rolo - in a few years Tim Scott will be looking for a promotion.
I more concerned that there are no white cornerbacks in the NFL.....that’s just wrong...
After all, it is all about the color of one’s skin, isn’t it?
Why does Hussein have a 90% approval among blacks?
eyep
I thought race didn’t matter? Isn’t that what Obama said in 2008? We are all Americans, right?
Is he still alive?
?????...someone’s pulling his strings
Right, since he was discussing the Senate I did not bring up Swann and Blackwell, but as you say the point is still the same. He is playing the race card but he really only wants more Dims in the Senate not more blacks.
Awww poor baby. Now take a hike, racist.
Or he could run for Nelson’s Senate seat.
