My wife has watched this show religiously since the first episode and never once called in a vote. She told me last night that she called to vote for Bristol. She said she was one of the few “real” people she ever saw on the show ... no phony smile or theatrics, just plugging away at it, doing her best and no excuses. She said it like it was her own kid, very proud of her.
I wondered if she was kept in the hunt because she was Sarah’s kid or despite it. Funny world. There is something very unique about this kid though, undeniably. Character, I think. My wife loves her.
Agreed! Bristol is drama free - she’s a nice young lady.
A lot of the people I talk to who religiously watch the show are tired of the “ringers” brought in each year (those with entertainment backgrounds, especially those who have had serious dance/choreography/movement training in their past). The cast this season was a bit weak anyway, with some real duds as far as staying “likeable” as the season progressed. Some of these viewers have decided to vote for Bristol because she is a complete non-dancer with little entertainment experience and she is improving and taking advice gracefully.
Still, I am sure there are plenty of people voting for Bristol because of who her mom is, but there are likely just as many NOT voting, or actively voting against her, for the same reason. That’s the way it works with audience-participation competition shows. Every year there is at least one contestant who overstays in respect to their actual dance prowess. The judges will sort it out in the final week or two, and take that person out.
I actually think it’s rather enlightening to follow the comments about Bristol at the more liberal entertainment board that I belong to, you’d think she was stomping on kittens or something, real anger and hatefulness coming from those who claim to be so open-minded and “caring”.
Please tell your wife I agree with her...:)
