“So what does she claim to be now? I haven’t listened to her for what, ten years, and not much then”

I don’t know. I occasionally hear a bit of show. I can’t take her advice, especially to little kids.

I remember with heartbreak a little fat kid, calling her. She was like 10 or something. She wanted to stop going to school, everyone at school was teasing her, what should she do?

Dr. Laura recommended exercise and apples with cinnamon. Keep right tolerating the abuse each day; submit to it, diet and exercise.

Good grief, it was so cold. I would not go to work to be taunted and insulted every day over my weight. The EEOC would not allow it. I get an insult-free work place. That poor little girl was told to man up and deal with it, five days a week. No compassion.

I wanted to jump through the radio and take the kids home and home school her, but, obviously that was not possible.

Dr. Laura often gives good honest common sense advice but the grace is rarely there. It’s all law with her, usually.

Yeah, reality and truth is often that, eh?

Puh-leeeeeze.

Sounds like YOU could have used a little of Dr. Laura's philosophy when you were a kid if as an adult you think you're entitled to "an insult-free workplace." Life is a series of "manning up" moments, and 99 percent of the time (as with this little girl), you're called on to man up to accepting responsibility for yourself. You either man up, or flunk out until the next manning up moment, when hopefully you'll do better.
