Mississippi State defensive end Nick Bell died today after a battle with cancer, according to officials at the UAB Medical Center in Birmingham.
Bell, 20, played in States first four games of the 2010 season and made starts against Auburn and Georgia. He played in 16 games in his career with the Bulldogs.
MSU coach Dan Mullen told his team about Bells death at a team meeting today. Several team members traveled to Birmingham on Monday after his condition worsened.
This is a tragedy for Nicks family, our football program, our community and everyone who had the privilege to meet and be around Nick Bell, Mullen said.
