Both Hitler and Davis were born outside the country they would head. Both were originally appointed to their office and then won uncontested elections. Both centralized government under their control. Both headed governments that controlled large parts of their economy. Both believed in a master race. Both jailed large numbers of their people without trial. Both had contempt for their country's constitutions. Both led their country into a war that later devastated it. Both headed countries whose economies were heavily dependent on slave labor. The parallels are positively eerie.

It was not rebels, it was not even adults, it was three kids 16 and 17 years of age, out past curfew from the citadel. I suspect that they never acknowledged to themselves their responsibility in the deaths of 600k Americans.
The citadel has an award called ;The Star of The West;. The student who is awarded it is destined for great things. My son is a recipient of the Star of The West.
