Scientists predict that soot from commercial space flight will change global temperatures Climate change caused by black carbon, also known as soot, emitted during a decade of commercial space flight would be comparable to that from current global aviation, researchers estimate.

He who creates the computer simulation program controls the outcome. What a surprise the enviro-wackos created a simulation program that predicts increased global warming from something they don’t approve of.

Scientists predict...

I am a scientist, and I deny having predicted this at all!

Carbon-containing rocket fuels burn so hot that the soot is never formed.

Ah--can carbon-free fuel even exist?

I heard NASA has a new plan to follow the Muslim feel-good mission. Afterwards they are going to send Obama home, back to Planet Marx.

Thank you! I cringe when I see “Hugh” (a man’s name) used in place of “huge”, meaning gigantic. I am amazed how often that mistake is made on these pages.

Could this be because Burt Rutan, who is now about to begin commercial space flights, is an outspoken critic of anthropogenic global warming?

It's not a mistake, it's a part FReeper Lore, see post #16.

Of course, and chemically it's the simplest one around. It's used in the main engines of the Shuttle and in the RD-0120 main engines of the Energia rocket.

The only catch is that cryogenic fuels in general and liquid hydrogen specifically are hard to work with. But with persistence and sufficient technology it's all doable. The exhaust of this fuel pair is just water vapor.

This is such bullsh*t. Commercial space flight won’t eclipse aviation for a long time, IMO.

Will do. Sorry about that. I wasn't aware of the lore and, therefore, didn't realize "hugh" was deliberate.
