Connecticut State Historian Walter Woodward will lecture on alchemy and witchcraft during the early years of the Connecticut colony in a presentation before the Windsor Historical Society at 7 p.m., Oct. 19.
Woodward's talk will draw from his new book, "Prospero's America: John Winthrop Jr., Alchemy And The Creation of Early New England Culture." The work examines colonial Gov. Winthrop's interest in alchemy and the occult and his efforts to curb the Hartford witch trials, which resulted in seven executions, including two Windsor women.
Tickets are $6 for adults; $5 for seniors and students and $4 for society members. Call 860-688-3813, or visit the society website, http://www.windsorhistoricalsociety.org.
You beat me to it! LOL.
I think the real story is behind Connecticut pioneer Thomas Hooker.
I’m not a witch, I’m not a witch!
