Glenn Beck's health

Posted on 10/08/2010 8:02:54 AM PDT by Blogger

Listening to Glenn live and he indicated that he will be gone Monday and Tuesday for testing. In addition to his eyes, he is losing feeling in his hands and having issues with .his voice. Doctors are. Searching under every rock, including some sort of poisoning. Thoughts on what could be going on?

I would not be surprised if something experimental affected you. Very sorry to hear you are having these issues.

Y’know, some poisons work in exactly this way. Even so, my bet is on some kind of illness. He lived quite the life before getting his act together, and that kind of life can play havoc with the human body.

There are way too many possibilities with this limited amount of information. Poison, tumors, MS, Lou Gehrig’s Disease

Lou Gherig's Disease could probably be excluded, because it doesn't typically affect the eyes. It sounds like a tumor, MS or poisoning though I'd think by now a tumor would've been indicated through a CT scan.

Maybe, but the tick infestation on the Mall didn’t happen until several weeks after he was there, Oct 2nd if I remember correctly.

God Bless Glen and Give Him Clarity

You mention Guilaume Barre disease — the swine flu vaccine of 1976 or 1977 caused several cases of this disease to people who received the vaccine.

While I don’t always agree with beck, I do believe he has been raising issues and providing information few have and for that I hope he gets better soon.

Maybe “Putin” wants him dead. That's the way they handle it in Russia. Prayers for the most important man in the US. If he leaves the public eye, who would take his place? I don't think anyone is not replaceable, but I for one, don't think Sarah, Huckabee, Gingrich, ect, could do it. Rush would come the closest and he has already had a hand a TV without good result. Rush is great, but even he doesn't educate us about the real history of socialism. He is mostly involved in today's headline politics. Everyone should be praying that he remains on TV because America, at the moment, needs him desperately.

Unfortunately, many of these symptoms sound like Multiple Sclerosis. I'm not doctor, but I know two people with this disease: it can afflict different people differently at different times, but one constant is numbness or lack of feeling, particularly in hands or feet. Eyes are also often affected (as is bladder control). Men on average are MUCH harder hit than women, and with men it tends to come on much more rapidly; and those living in colder climates are more susceptible to MS than those in warmer climates.

Because the symptoms vary so widely among people, really only an MRI (to detect spinal lesions) and spinal tap can diagnose it, and one can go years being diagnosed with other problems until doctors land on this.

Again, not a doc and I don't play one on TV, but I know a lot about this particular disease. It can be a relapse form, in which you get bad "episodes," including near full-body numbness, lack of function in muscles, then it can go into remission and you wouldn't know someone had it for years. Other variants are progressive, in which matters get worse steadily. While there is no cure, various drugs, including Avonex and Tysabrae have had good results at stopping the progression and relieving some of the symptoms.

Glenn’s so often so over-wrought and near-hysterical, maybe he’s spinning himself into one of those middle-age, middle-class, white woman psychochromatic deals like multiple chemical sensitivities, or chronic fatigue syndrome, or fibromyalgia. Or maybe that nasally-jealous Mark Levin, who hates Beck, really is poisoning him.-————

That’s racist.

The first thing that came to mind given his symptoms and the fact that doctors are at a loss is Lyme Disease. Anyone can get it from a random tick bite. A couple of weeks after you get the bite, you first experience flu like systems, but the symptoms quickly transition to neurological disturbances, non-specific muscular tremors, vision changes, etc. The CDC estimates that 90% of Lyme Disease sufferers don’t even realize they have the disease and are either being treated incorrectly or for psychological stuff like depression or anxiety because the doctors can’t figure out what is wrong.

Blood tests can and should be done, and there are a few good ones out there to indicate the presence of Lyme Disease. The sooner it is treated, the better. There are antibiotics out there (long-stage antibiotics of many months if it’s been a few months since you contracted it) that can cure the disease. But there is no way to recover if you don’t treat it - it stays with you causing a steady-state of misery for the rest of your life unless you treat it.

My mother has it (God bless her), and it struck me that Glenn Beck is sounding a lot like the way she described her medical condition and sentiments in the early stage of the disease.

Any way to at least raise Beck’s awareness to at least look into this possibility?
