Mass AscentionI know it's beautiful and all (so I've heard) but that's a freaky title for the event.

What a spectacle of color and creativity.
I suppose, however, it's only a matter of time before someone insinuates something distasteful into it. I mean, beyond the typical southwestern genuflecting to goddesses and such.

Fiesta is the one thing we miss the most since moving away from NM. We lived in the River’s Edge II subdivision, and quite often the balloons would drift over our neighborhood. Back in ‘01, one balloon got too low and smacked a couple of houses on our street, then landed about two doors down from us.
I don’t miss the traffic, though. When I worked at Sun Health, getting out of the area early in the afternoon was required when a glow was scheduled. Otherwise, gridlock.

It was done recently - usually right around Labor Day.
To: Disambiguator
Zozobra is a hideous but harmless fifty-foot bogeyman marionette. He is a toothless, empty-headed facade. He has no guts and doesn't have a leg to stand on. He is full of sound and fury, signifying nothing. He never wins. He moans and groans, rolls his eyes and twists his head. His mouth gapes and chomps. His arms flail about in frustration.
Hunh. Sounds like Jimmy Carter.

We found that moving power lines doesn’t work..the balloons just hunt them down. ;(

I will never figure out why the knuckle heads in Dallas have their festival at the height of summer.
Balloons dont rise and people dont turn out to bake in the heat.

Looks like the alien went for a swim. When the balloons get tired of hunting power lines, they like to take a refreshing dip in the Rio Grande River. ;)
