The medical community hasn't been any help. We are going to have a pest control specialist take a look at it. I have found a website run by an entomologist and are going to send picturest there. Any other recommendations for a course of action would be greatly appreciated. Places to send

I’d go to the health department in my town.

I have seen a show on this. No one would believe the people affected. It’s been several years at least and I can remember bits and pieces but not where I saw it....perhaps 20/20 or Nightline. I will look around locally here in the Dallas metroplex to see if it was local media. My heart goes out to you. I remember the people in the story and they suffered for years. No one would believe them.

Ok, I remember the story. It was about a condition called Morgellons disease. Here is a link to scienceblog with a story about it on an epidemiology site.

The other info I found is a Dallas Morning News story in November 2007 concerning mites. FWIW

You need to see a doctor that specializes in tropical diseases. They have more training with these sorts of conditions.

Best of luck. I did not see Tea Tree Oil listed anywhere, but it works for lots of things.

My kids had nightmarish infestation with some different looking lice in the early 90s. The usual stuff did not work. I forbid them from playing with the kids they caught them from, disinfected my house and vehicles from top to bottom. I was losing my mind. I took them to the doctor and we tried prescription shampoo that did absolutely nothing. Finally, I purchase flea shampoo and that did the trick. True it was off label use, but I figured it was worth a try.

Try anti-freeze, I’m serious. Not super toxic to a large animal. Possibly mild chlorox too.

I’m sure there would be some medically qualified person on FR willing to take a look. Any takers? I’m sure there are more than a few medical doctors in here.

No idea how to get rid of your bugs, but just wanted to give moral support. My dad got a tropical skin disease that was supposed to only be caught in the Middle East ... and there he was in a small town in Texas. The dermatologist he went to was so surprised and fascinated by his case that he asked my dad to attend a dermatologists’ convention so they could all get a look! Anyway, my point is that just because something is “supposed” to be one way or another doesn’t mean it is. Good luck with your search.

BTW, I agree — please do not try antifreeze, even topically. It is very toxic (used by some people to kill their neighbors’ annoying pets!) and that toxicity might go in through your skin. Bad idea.

I realize termador sounds crazy
but its fda approved to put on puppies
and its the active ingredient in parasite killers like
front line for dogs , read here
http://www.firstpest.com/termidor.html
I would not put it right on my self but i would nuke the whole yard and house with it , and if you got some front line
for dogs and put just a little on you i bet it would kick those bugs but, buy the stuff for small puppies , i dont think that would hurt you , just try one drop the first day to make sure you dont react to it in a bad way. when the termite guy did my house he didnt even wear a mask , he said it is harmless to humans , good luck

First, oprahstheantichrist thank you so much for alerting me to this thread.

gov_bean_ counter, I have been through what you are going through and beat it, it’s not easy, here is some information that I have on it. Filling your house with pesticides will make it worse, trust me on that.

Blog posts I have on Collembola infecting humans

Does this identification mean anything? I do not know

"So, to review at this point we have a group of people suffering, being told it’s all “in their head” only later to find out they were infected with Collembola after all. Then we have Dr. Wymore’s interview stating he cultured Pseudomonas Putida directly from Morgellons fibers. And finally, we have the scientific work above identifying Pseudomonas Putida as the favorite food of the Microarthropod Collembola. It would seem the skin and body of the Morgellons sufferer has become like a rotting log, or the very least as favorable a home to both soil bacteria and soil based pests that they are both perfectly at home living in us."

"I took slides to my friend who is an entomologist and we found fungal hyphae, alternarium, and pathogenic funguses on the slides. These are not things that grow in humans. They are organisms that grow in plants. So the human bodies of these sufferers are becoming like soil and what does that attract? Fungus, mold and parasites."

The key is to not freak out, it can be scary, but it doesn't need to be. At the heart of the matter (IMHO) is a fungus which takes hold, is contagious, and invites secondary invaders such as Collembola, which definitely will infest a human once your bio terrain becomes so bad you are effectively equivalent to a rotting log to them. You can do everything you want to you external surrounding but the problem lies within "you". This is why others can come to your house and feel nothing, but you feel as though there are million bugs crawling on and under your skin. It is not a delusion at all.

PM me ...

My family and I have had a collembola/springtail infestation for about a year and a half. We went to dozens of doctors who told all six of us we were delusional, which is impossible by the way. We finally found a doctor through one of my mom’s acquaintances that had dealt with bird mites, demodox mites, etc. He prescribed us the same treatment. I have created a website with all the protocol we use. The infestation now is managable, and I believe we are on our way to full recovery. Here’s the link. I’d love to help and hear feedback!
