My Mom did an “Elder Hostel” mission there a few years ago. The Hopi were asking volunteers to do paper/pencil reliefs to replicate the carvings before they were destroyed. The Hopi know full well that most of the vandalism comes from Navajos who are trying to absorb the Hopi reservation. Its not the Hopi way to either retaliate, defend or draw attention. They figure that the act of vandalism ultimately does more damage to the vandals’ own souls than it does to the carvings.

^^^^ Don’t you think they’d have a more meaningful way to enact a type of warfare between each other than writing the word “ace”. I wonder if there were any “school trips” in the area recently...
