Here in California it is legal to make a right turn on a red light after you come to a complete stop behind the white line. This is our greatest cultural achievement.
But one of the greats. Should be a statue built, using tax payer dollars of course. You will be compelled to pay for it at the point of a gun of course.
That’s because others have built the coercive power of the State for their own ends. I just hope to use it for my petty purposes.
We are like trained monkeys.
Twice over the past 15 years I’ve come to a construction area where both sides of the cross streets were closed and barricaded, but the idiots left the traffic light alone. Very depressing to see how many stopped and waited for the green light when it was very obvious there wouldn’t be any cross traffic coming for a couple months!
I’ve stopped then went thru when I had the lead. It was sort of disappointing that there is never a cop around when you want one, because for some perverse reason I was looking for a fight on that one.
Our second greatest is that we allow lane sharing. There is no law prohibiting your from moseying your car right next to another car to make a right turn for example even if there is no delineated second lane. I understand that this is against the law in other states.
And it has been for at least the three decades...
In Fl it is permissable to make a right on red after a complete stop and if there is no “right on red sign”. Sometimes those are in place due to low visibility or hills. I don’t like the folks who skip the right turn lane and bust through the corner gas station to avoid the light altogether.
That said, what pisses me off the most is sitting at a red light with no traffic for 5 minutes when there is no car in sight. With technology the way it is, these should be blinking intercections after midnight.
Red light cameras suck also. Bunch of nazis if you ask me.
I've been nailed by that one before.
It is MY business when MY insurance rates go up because someone is TOO DAMNED DUMB to put on a seatbelt.
Not so fast FM!
You better check closely next time before you do.
Where I live, we have a small sign posted at an intersection the says plainly “No Right Turn On Red Light”.
