I don't think that has anything to do with FB. You decide who to be friends with. If what you stated is true, then YOU are the one to blame, nobody else.
My sister and I have lost a few relative's because of FB. So be it. It was a constant battle, back and forth, the libs finally deleted us(we wouldn't give in).
Don't blame someone else for your own failure to utilize a great site. Like I said, I have met many great conservative peeps through FB.
