SAN FRANCISCO--If Adobe Systems had its druthers, Google Android would turn into the Microsoft Windows of the 21st century.
If there was any doubt that Adobe's mobile strategy is now tied to the long-term success of Android, it was removed by a day-long presentation by Adobe executives and managers about how Adobe is adapting its technologies to Android. Dubbed the "Android Summit," the series of presentations to the press emphasized how core Adobe technologies such as Flash and AIR are being optimized for Android on phones, tablets, and eventually televisions when Google TV is released.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, left unsaid during the series of presentations was one of the reasons why Adobe has fallen in love with Android. Adobe originally sought Apple as a partner, dating back to at least 2008 as iPhone growth exploded. But the Apple-Adobe rift was the story of this past spring, with Apple CEO Steve Jobs bashing Flash and Adobe in an open letter, Google and Adobe firing back during the Google I/O event in May, and the official shift of the battleground in the Great Fanboy Wars from Windows versus

Adobe Reader is about the only app on my system that pukes its brains out all the time. It sucks. Completely, totally and utterly - sucks.
Did I tell you it sucks?
I presume you're running some version of Windows, since Adobe reader isn't required on a Mac. We use a built-in app called "Preview" which usually works flawlessly on pdfs and other Adobe files. If you are using a Mac, delete Reader and make Preview your default pdf reader; life will be much rosier.
Since I went Mac I don't use Adobe Reader because OS X does PDF natively. I am very happy of that. I used to be a serious Adobe fan. They had my favorite software, such as Photoshop and InDesign, and they just kept getting better and better each version. Not so much anymore, especially after the Macromedia buy.
Yeah, this is on Windows. Though I do have a MacMini so maybe I’ll try out the preview mode and see what it’s like. Or perhaps an open source reader.
I still don’t think they have Flash available for 64-bit.
The only other company I revile as much as Adobe is MKS. A special place in Hell is reserved for them.
Uninstall it and install this reader instead; it’s quick and behaves itself, unlike the Adobe Reader:

Much, much more functional too. No more “you cannot save changes to this document” crap.
