>>”If you don’t use their language, they refuse to serve you. They don’t understand what a plain multigrain bagel is.”<<
The vey few times I have been in a Charbucks, I always ask for a Medium House Coffee, Black. When they say something like “Vente Drip” I just repeat — Medium Coffee, Black.” After a few rounds they get the point.
And they are just waitpersons. “Barrista” is just stupid.
About as stupid as "waitpersons", with all due respect (What happened to "waiters" and "waitresses"? "Barista" actually means "bartender".)
And they are just waitpersons. Barista is just stupid
That is fine, but attitude goes a long way. When one lives like a jerk/beeyatch, they shouldn’t be surprised when one treats them in the same manner.
“The customer is always right” has been abused. It used to be applicable when the customer sincerely believed themselves to be right; now people will intentionally lie to get what they want, and act boorish toward the “hired help” just because they feel they can.
It’s quite sickening, really.
The best coffee buying advice has been given here several times. Find a good local convenience store or fast food place that makes the best coffee and stick with them. It's cheaper and less annoying.

And here I thought barrista was an Italian word that means “coffee wench”. :)
