I once ordered a chocolate cappuccino and the kid looked at me and said, "We don't have chocolate." He asked around a bit and looked over the list, then said,"We have mocha though.". *slap*

My first job in the art business was setting type at an AlphaGraphics copy shop. The old bastard who ran the joint used to come flying out of his office in a purple-faced rage if precise corporate-HQ terminology was deviated from. When the phone rang, for example, we had to pick it up and say "Hello, Sir/Ma'am, and thank you for calling AlphaGraphics Printshops of the Future, my name is _____, how may I help you?"

You got the lesson wrong. The actual lesson is: When the phone rings, go into the PHB's office and knock him senseless (OK, MORE senseless) with the receiver. Then answer the phone, "Hello, AlphaGraphics!"

Is this an acutal picture? I'm almost speechless. I can't WAIT for the pablum from the LEO's about the "We want to make sure we make it home to our families tonight and we had to respond this way" crap.

If you're a cop and want to assure you make it home to your family, PICK ANOTHER JOB!

POLICE WORK IS DANGEROUS.

CHRIST, this is like a teacher saying "I love my job except for the kids".

This is precisely why my respect for "Officer Friendly" is scraping the rocks at the bottom. Seriously, I'd really rather defend myself if this is the price of our current system.

An elitist challenging elitism that doesn’t rise to her level. Kind of humorous, really.

I was working in downtown Chicago 2 years ago, just off of Rush street (VERY trendy and VERY expensive)

The guy I worked with an I, would get to the job and walk a few blocks over for coffee and a roll every morning. He just HAD TO HAVE his Starbucks coffee. He'd rave about it, and tell me about the oils and such, and the best way to make it...yada, yada, yada.

I'd walk ANOTHER block down and get a Dunkin' Donuts coffee and doughnut.

I CAN'T STAND Starbucks swill. It tastes like burnt, over roasted crap to me. What I hate EVEN MORE, are the pretentious people who work there and buy there, and think that Starbucks is just sooooo great. LOOOONG before I had a Starbucks coffee, I surmized it was nothing but a shallow, trendy place, for shallow, pretentious people. After going the first time, I figured I was spot on. I tried it a couple more times just in case I had a bad cup the first time. I did.
...And the second...and the third...and the fourth.

The only time I've had a good cup of coffee in a Starbucks, is when I brought in a Dunkin' Donuts coffee.

Exactly. I'm sick to death of cops with the attitude "You can't expect us to do our jobs in line with Constitutional freedoms for our bosses, the citizens. It might be dangerous or something! You guys should all be willing to waive every Constitutional protection if it saves even one [of our] lives."

I got news for ya, Bub: The Constitution says the same thing it did the day before you took the job, it's not like someone baited and switched you. If you don't like it, get a different job.

Not starting a conflict here, but I’m curious as to how saying “without butter or cheese” violates proper English. It was simply something she didn’t want to say. She wouldn’t humble herself, probably raised her voice, and the police were called.

How is that standing up for the use of proper English?

And another thing. There are jobs statistically more dangerous that being a cop, and you don’t see those guys expecting us to give up our legal rights, nor would anyone take them seriously if they did want us to.

This is no lie...I once had a boss say to me, “That might be the more efficient way, but it’s not how I want it to be done.”

Pure psychology...it’s easier to get you to upgrade from a medium than it is from a small.

Didn't the “Barristas” go union a couple of years ago?

The best coffee buying advice has been given here several times. Find a good local convenience store or fast food place that makes the best coffee and stick with them. It's cheaper and less annoying.

Depending on when this story happened, he might have too much information now to make a decision.

Frankly, the whole chain is overrated. And who eats ANYTHING from those places? I flew out of Boston a few months back. There was another name for the bagel they served me--I think it was called "hockey puck".

I threw it out and went down the concourse to Dunkin Donuts, which is what I should have done in the first place.

Dunkin’s coffee blows Stabguts’ evil swill away.

The Navy ruined me for coffee. If it isn’t black and strong enough to strip paint off a bulkhead, count me out.

It wasn’t that she refused to speak Starbucks language, it is that she called the server an A hole. She sounds like an elitist harpy who takes pleasure in ruining other lesser human beings’ days.
